E-bay might take a look at the shipping address input procedure
Recently when inputting my "ship to" address I followed the suggestion to just include my street address and omit the apartment number. When you input an address with an apt #, e-bay pops up two boxes. The box on the left has the address without the apartment number and at the top of the box is says "We recommend." The little circle on the upper left corner is already filled in with a black dot. The box on the right has the address with the apartment number and above it says "You provided." The little circle with this box is empty. So you have to deliberately choose to click in the empty circle to choose the "You provided" address with the apartment number. I would say they're pushing pretty hard for the user to pick the address without the apartment number and, in fact, that is what I did. It seemed a little odd but I figured e-bay must know a little bit about shipping details. Turns out the package coming my way got returned by the letter carrier due to "insufficient address." I checked at the post office and they said apartment number is required in the address at multi-unit buildings. The letter carrier is not allowed to leave the package in front of the mailboxes. I contacted e-bay today and asked if they would reimburse the expense of re-shipping the item since the address error was a result of following their automated formatting suggestion. Nope. The word counter-intuitive is a little overused, but it's definitely counter-intuitive that a company that's all about shipping pushes people, when they're inputting their ship-to address, to use a formatting that will cause the USPS to refuse to deliver their packages. Very disappointing.
