E Bay customer service.
Customer service at E Bay is virtually non existent. I purchased a part for my car, and E Bay software inserted my old address even after I edited it and put in my new address. I have been here for 4 years and made other purchases. Tried to contact the seller and I get nothing back. E Bay will not intervene to help contact the seller. Stay away from here.

"E Bay software inserted my old address even after I edited it and put in my new address. I have been here for 4 years and made other purchases".
When you entered your new address, did you delete the old one? If you did not, and also did not mark the new one as your primary Ship to: address that could be the reason for the problem. If you did make the change and immediately purchased the item, the change may not have had time to be registered with ebay's computers. Did you not check the address when checking out to see if the change had registered?
You may have registered to use ebay 4 years ago, but according to your profile you have only made one purchase from ebay and that was in the last year, over 90 days ago. Is this a different account than one you have used in the past? If it is the same account you have had all along the change of address may have been flagged by ebay as possibly having been hijacked and that is why the change was not registered. Did you look at your eBay messages to see if there was one asking if you made the change?
"Tried to contact the seller and I get nothing back".
Sellers usually do not reply to change of address messages because if they ship to a different address than the one shown on their order, they lose their protection from a false item not received dispute.
They have to ship to the address they receive. Had you asked them to cancel the order because of the wrong address, so you could buy it again with the correct one. They may have at least canceled the order.

OP2 years agoHave tried to cancel the order. No reply from seller or E Bay. They shipped it anyway to the wrong address. What options do I have when it is delivered to a stranger in another state.

File a "not as described" claim. You will lose an INR no matter where you file it be it eBay, PayPal, or your credit card company. If the recipient chooses to "Return to Seller " it is still going to be on you as well, because eBay will determine that it was YOU that provided the incorrect address.

·2 years ago???? Why would you suggest that @gerslo_85 lie and file a NAD claim?!?!
Not only is it dishonest but the buyer (OP) would have nothing to provide to return to the seller.
This is an error by the buyer and the seller did nothing wrong and shouldn't have a NAD claim filed against them.
@ittybitnot
Your suggestion makes no sense.

·2 years agoHave already done that. Merchant will not respond to me and E Bay will not get involved until after the package has been delivered to the wrong address. I'm afraid that if I wait that they will tell me the goods have been delivered and I have no recourse.

Yes there was a problem with that going on a couple of weeks back. A bad time was had by all involved. To check again to see if things are in order you can go to
your My eBay page > Account > Personal Information > Addresses > Shipping Address > Edit
and see what is there. You can also check your other preferences while you are on that page as well.

·2 years agoThat's highly unlikely to be a factor @ittybitnot . The issue was from a couple months ago. It only happened with orders placed on one specific version of the iOS app. It was fixed in a little over a week. eBay contacted every seller by email if they had an impacted order. All was taken care of and CS issued credits/refunds where appropriate. Months later, this shouldn't even be in question unless you see a large number of reports coming in all at once. In my opinion, it's confusing to buyers to bring up this possibility months after the issue was fixed.
I strongly disagree with the advice to file a not as described claim. It's dishonest and inappropriate to the situation. If there is a tech error involved, eBay CS will be able to see that and issue the buyer a refund. This is most likely user error. @mudshark61369 provided some good info above about updating addresses.
I'll also advise checking the Address page in account settings because it's possible the buyer updated their registration address, but not their shipping address. Those are different fields.

Once an item is paid for @gerslo_85 , the seller cannot change the shipping address. If it's too late for the seller to cancel, then you may want to work with the current resident of the address entered at checkout. They might be willing to forward the package to you if you send a prepaid shipping label. If the package is returned to the seller you can ask them for a refund, but note that eBay policy does not require sellers to refund when buyer provides invalid address at checkout.
You can visit this page to make sure your registration and shipping addresses are both up to date. Once you enter your new address, change it to your default address which will allow you to delete the old address. Account Settings: Addresses

·2 years agoAre you saying that you changed the address while you were checking out to your new address, but they still used the old address?

·2 years agoYes, that's correct.
