Duplicate tracking number scam
Anyone else out there that's been a buyer/victim of a seller using a duplicate USPS tracking number from someone else's package and then Ebay did not get your money refunded (even when I submitted proof from the USPS Post Master). So you paid for your item, you didnt get your item and didnt receive a refund........seller kept your money, Ebay protected the seller & their scam, and the seller/scammer is still taking people's money using the Ebay platform and Ebay is giving protection & encouragement for scammers! 7th

·6 months agoDid you open an Item Not Received case? that usually gets denied in a situation like this because the tracking shows delivered.
File a Significantly Not As Described case, which it was, have eBay send you a free label and send back an envelope with nothing in it, "nothing" is what you got.
Ebay will refund you if the buyer doesn't.

·1 year agoSo I believe I just ran into such a scam. I contacted Ebay right away and UPS right away. My experience seems to differ from yours. Ebay took the listing down and said in three days I could ask for their help. Today I'm asking them to get involved. So we'll see how it goes.

If eBay took the listing down it was because they removed the seller. They will see that when you use the Ask eBay to step in button and issue a full refund.
FYI. While searching the community for topics that are similar to an issue you have is fine. You should not respond to one posting about a different issue. You will get faster and more relevant replies if you start your own discussion.

·1 year agoPlease come back and let us know what are your next steps @mimimama50 when you lose the case and don't get your refund? eBay might have sent you down the wrong path, by taking down the listing but still requiring the case to proceed.

You wrote "...even when I submitted proof from the USPS Post Master".
If your "proof" was a scan or photo of an email from the USPS, ebay will not accept that as proof, because emails can be faked. Not only that but many of the appeals are handled by a hired 3rd party chat, phone service, and those companies do not allow their employees to do any online searching, outside of opening chats.
In the link @ittybitnot provided I also responded to it a couple of replies later telling you how you can get info ebay will accept at least from the USPS. The private companies FedEx & UPS... will not write a note for you. Instead of filing Item not received (INR) disputes using the More actions button, it is better to go straight to the social media platforms which are manned by actual ebay employees, who have the power to issue refunds or overturn a lost INR decision if you get information ebay will accept. I also posted advice on how you can lessen the possibility of running into the scam in the future.

@keithcreech782012
Of course. This scam is quite successful for the criminal, especially if you filed "Item Not Received" (INR) with eBay. That is a number #1 LOSE for you. Not that they give you any other choice when this happens, but it is reported almost daily now, oftentimes more than once. This has been going on here for well over a decade now.
Please read this thread for the selected best answer post to see the options you have to get your money back (a through d) and do come back with any questions or additional advice you may need before proceeding.

The "requirements" are always changing and evolving, and if you are successful or not, do come back so we can advise others. Just remember to get 'INR' out of your head and start thinking FRAUD/fake tracking scam instead. eBay knows all about this, so does PayPal, so do all the parcel carriers, and now you do too!
Good luck.

·6 months agoeBay did not lose my business, they pushed my business away along with tens of thousands of other customers away by enabling fraud and refusing to listen. Most customers report it once then simply shop elsewhere. I was with eBay way back in the beginning in the 1990s. Back then they held money from sellers for 30 days I think. They made money on the interest of the float. If a product did not show up, a real person investigated. Making it unprofitable for criminals. As a complaint instantly stopped payment to seller for an additional minimum 30 days while it was investigated. Buyers felt safe. I have found a good way to fix this. I stopped most purchases on eBay as have many others. I instead purchase directly through Amazon and other outlets. eBay enables fraud, does nothing to stop it. Does not even read a complaint except by AI but instead protects the fraudster and sends them money within hours of the fraud. If eBay does not care enough to protect the paying customer, I don’t care to give them my business any longer. In the unlikely event you are an eBay rep reading this, look at my purchase history and see how you pushed me and other buyers away. When it comes to evidence that eBay itself will accept, they should explain acceptable evidence in the INR process not on some o secure social media post which itself is full of fraudulent comments.

·6 months agoThere are approximately 2 billion listings on eBay currently, with daily volume estimated around $27 million worth of items, so almost certainly millions of orders every day. How exactly do you expect eBay to have the manpower to have a "real person investigate" every undelivered order?
