Does the "immediate payment" option on BIN items invalidate checkout?
Just wondering if when the seller has the "Require immediate payment when buyer uses Buy It Now" option checked if this removes the checkout process (I'm specifically interested in the event of accepted offers) and deducts the funds immediately from your default payment method? Since you're pretty much guaranteed a checkout when you put an item in your cart I can't really figure out what this option means exactly. Basically I just want to know if you're still reliably granted a checkout when you accept an offer.

OP1 year agoOk, I think I sort of get what you said. But I'm still a little confused by what the option actually does, since the seller usually decides when the item is removed from inventory (which I'm taking to mean shipped, and I assume most sellers always ship after receiving payment.) But the option not affecting offers pretty much answers my main concern. And what I meant by "guaranteed a checkout "that you go through a checkout screen with payment options prior to purchases, as opposed to funds being automatically deducted (which now happens when offers are accepted, from what I understand.)

·1 year agoBy "removed from inventory" I mean from eBay's inventory of what is for sale; when a "transaction" or "order" occurs which causes a single-item listing to be "completed" and no longer available for purchase (or the quantity available in a multiple-item listing to decrease). Others simply say a Buy It Now (or accepting an offer) "ends the listing" but for multiple-item listings it doesn't do that, so it gets complicated to explain in a short phrase.

·1 year agoIt means that a buyer hitting the Buy It Now button has to go through Checkout before the item is removed from inventory (single-item listing ends, quantity available reduced in multiple-item listing). It has no effect on the payment settings for offers or bids, only for Buy It Now. eBay also makes some items where you generally have to go through checkout to remove them from inventory with an exception that if you Add to Cart and then request a total for combined payment/shipping from the Cart you are committing to buy those items which are removed from inventory. Where the seller has required Immediate Payment that exception is not available.
I don't know what you mean by "you're pretty much guaranteed a checkout when you put an item in your cart". As a buyer you have no guarantee that the item will still be available when you go to check out (another buyer can get it since it is not removed from inventory, or the Buy It Now might be ended due to an auction bid, or an offer might be accepted, or the seller end the listing etc.). AND as a buyer you are not guaranteeing that you will pay for the item when you put it in your Cart (unless you then request a total).
And none of that has anything to do with offers, which has its own rules and settings as to whether you have to pre-authorize automatic payment or not.
Where neither pre-authorization nor immediate payment is required, you commit to buy the item when you confirm the Buy It Now, or make an offer or a bid. You have 4 days (unless the seller gives you more) from confirming the Buy It Now or the auction ending with you as winner or the seller accepting your offer to pay.
