Does Ebay refund shipping charges on defective items to the buyer?
In the past, I have only purchased from sellers offering free shipping. However, I just bought an electronic item from a seller who charged shipping and am now wondering, if the item is defective and I need to return it, will eBay refund me the total purchase price including the shipping cost I paid?
And no, I am not anticipating a return, but given it is a used electronic item, the likelihood of experiencing a problem is certainly higher than with new merchandise.
Thanks

You are a long time member and an active seller yet you do not know how ebay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) works? Every seller should know what would happen if an item of theirs arrived to a buyer that was not as described. You should look up ebay's MBG policy.
"In the past, I have only purchased from sellers offering free shipping".
Why would you do that? Did you know that on average you end up paying 30% more for those items, than if you bought them from a seller who charges exact shipping costs? As a seller who lists items with Free Shipping, you should know that there is no such thing as Free shipping only that the cost is built into the sale price.

I once purchased a vintage photo having a $6 shipping cost, from a top rated ebay seller, offering free returns
Upon opening the package delivered, I found a written note from the seller stating that the item purchased was out of inventory & the seller had chosen to send some other photos out instead.
I opened a SNAD, received a qr return code, return entered as being in the custody of USPS in under 24 hours,
& a few hours latter I was notified that I was issued a refund.
However My full payment had not been refunded, with $ 6 having been deducted
I then contacted ebay & successfully argued that the MBG entitled me to a full payment refund, & was then issued a $6 courtesy refund.

In speaking with Ebay customer support, the agent unfortunately appeared to have some difficulty in accepting that I was entitled to a full payment refund.
Although SNAD details, ebay messages, seller statement, & USPS return tracking we're available for their review & that seller had decided to send out substitute photos without informing me & without having gotten my consent.
