Dissatisfied with $25 product, seller has no return policy. Am I screwed?
I purchased an offbrand Playstation 3 controller for $25 with a user that has a no-return policy. It showed up today, was encapsulated in packaging that would be impossible to open without scissors. I sighed, scissored it, and got to my game, only to find that the D-pad is screwy, with (LEFT) commands often rendering as (LEFT+UP) commands. Everything else about the controller I'm fine with, it's the [[[ (LEFT)=(LEFT+UP) ]]] that ruins it for me, so poorly so I'm just not going to bother to use it.
Am I screwed out of $25? I've read numerous reports online about aggravated sellers complaining that their no-return policy didn't work because the user fraudulently claimed "Not As Described;" I don't want to be an awful person that way. I'd like my $25 back though if possible in any way. Ugh.

·2 years agoAfter you return the defective controller @Anonymous using the ITEM IS DEFECTIVE reason
then the seller shorts your refund because you had to open the packaging only to find that it is defective

·2 years agoeBay's MBG trumps any seller's "No Returns" policy every time if you follow through with an item not as described case.
You "don't want to be an awful person that way"? What "way"? Would you rather lose $25 and have a piece of equipment that's unusable?
Give this a little thought: If a seller's "No Returns" policy meant that a buyer had to keep any piece of trash that he received, then who would buy on eBay?

OP2 years agoWell, thanks for the prompt answers to my question, everybody. I'm going to go ahead and do this I guess. I'm sure that the user in question will be absolutely elated with the development at hand. Must be an absolute joy to sell on this site. Probably gonna make it a point not to sell on here.

·2 years agoIf it's defective, you're covered by the MBG, doesn't matter what their return policy is.
Go to your purchase history and click return item and select, the item doesn't match the description as the reason.
The seller will have 3 days to accept the return and pay return shipping or refund without returning.
If they don't, return to the case on day 4 and ask Ebay to step in.

·2 years agoNo returns does not mean no returns. Make sure you mark the correct reason for a return.

·2 years agoA seller's no return policy does not apply to items that are SNAD- significantly not as described. Find the item in your purchases list and select Return this item under More actions. The seller has three days to respond with a return shipping label and if they do not, you can return to the case on the fourth day and escalate to eBay.

·2 years agoThat is a danger in buying an off brand. It's really not an eBay issue as the item is working and as described. You just don't care for it. I would check to see if there is a web site by the company that made it. There might be a way to reconfigure it.
You can always resell it on eBay if you don't like it.
No, that is the danger of SELLING off brand items. Item is not as described - a problem for the seller, not the buyer.
