Dishonest Seller
I recently purchased a cheese grater from the online store on eBay. After using it three times, the grater became stuck after grating some cheese. This indicated that the unit was poorly manufactured. I contacted the seller, who claimed to make the necessary repairs. However, he refused to take any action and instead provided me with evasive responses. I strongly advise against purchasing from this low-quality Chinese company. eBay also proved to be of no assistance in resolving this issue. Consequently, I have decided to discontinue using their services.

Ebay is not here to help.

·1 year agoThey are if you follow policy correctly. When did you purchase this? When did you receive it? If it is within 30 days open an INAD case and you can get a refund

Saying "Buyer Beware!" is rather a moot point on this board as most of us here know how the Money Back Guarantee works and how to file a return claim. However, it is fortunate that you came here to "complain" because several posters have explained how to get your money back for damaged or defective items, as per eBay's Money Back Guarantee.
And actually, eBay is here to help but they can't help if you don't follow the proper procedure for a refund. You don't have to communicate with the seller. You do have to file a return claim. Go to your seller hub and find the item. Click on "return this item" and "not as described". The seller will either have to issue you a label for you to return the item and upon his receipt of the item back, will have to refund your money. (Or if he doesn't want it back, he can just issue you a refund.) If he does not do this, on day four you can ask eBay to step in and they will force him to refund. If you file a return claim and the seller contacts you trying to get you to close the claim, don't do it. That will cause you to lose your money. But, filing a return claim has to be done within 30 days of your initial receipt of the item.
If it has been more than 30 days since you received the item, you can always go to your payment source (credit card, etc.) and file a chargeback.

·1 year agoIf the price seemed like a bargain, it is likely the product will be crap. It does not matter where the seller is located, and increasingly not where the product was made.
As Click and Clack on NPR's Car Talk used to say "The stingy man pays the most".
When I want a quality product, I buy it in person so that I can examine it and decide if it MIGHT be a quality product. Needless to say, I am not an expert on every product I buy, but it reduces the amount that needs to be hauled to the dump.

·1 year agoAs has been stated by mudshark, you have 30 days of buyer protection and recourse with ebay from the time you receive the item. As far as dealing with sellers from China, we counsel against that regularly on these boards. Poor quality, bad service are common place in their dealings. In addition, many over there consider getting one over on the 'gwai lo' (one of their derogatory terms for people not of Asian decent) a national sport.

·1 year agoI strongly advise you not purchase anything online, especially things that are known to come from that country. Since most everything sold, even in stores, is made outside the USA-be sure to return the item within the return policy.

How long after receiving the grater did you have the issue? If it was more than 30 days then your ebay Money Back Guarantee (MBG) protections had lapsed. If it has been less than 30 days go to your purchase history, click on the More actions button. If return item pops up click on it and select as the reason for the return Does not match photos or description, and follow through to file the dispute, which will appear above the item title in your history. The seller will have 3 days to either send you a return shipping label, or a full refund for the item. If they respond through ebay messages, not in the dispute do not do any thing they ask, and on day four open the dispute and click on the Ask ebay to step in button.

Because ebay allows foreign, mostly chinese sellers to register in the U.S. and they give an item location in the U.S. it can be hard to tell where the seller or product is from. Open the link below then click on the Go To Best Answer button in it. There I give info that can help you avoid those sellers in the future. There's also info on how to check a seller's feedback profile page, something you should do before buying from any seller on ebay, Never go by a feedback percentage alone.
FYI, more than half of the seller's neutral feedback, should be negatives and if added to their number of negatives, thier feedback percentage would be in the 96% percent range.
