Different shipping location
I ordered a item from Germany. I checked the tariffs, 10%. Then the item shipped and it is out of china. They have almost 50% tariffs. I dont want to pay hundreds of dollars more than I thought I was going to have to pay. What can I do?

·4 months agoThe unfortunately solution is not to purchase anything on ebay from outside the US until this whole tariff thing is over with. You cannot trust the Chinese sellers not to misrepresent their location.

·4 months agoTariffs depend on where the item was manufactured (the country of origin) not where the item was shipped from.
If the item was manufactured in China, then you have to pay the China tariffs even if it was shipped from Germany.

When you receive the item you can file an Item Not As Described (INAD) dispute. The seller will have to pay the return cost, and you will get a refund for the item and original shipping cost. However, you have to pay the tariffs to receive the item, and the tariff refund is not included with the seller's refund. If you decline delivery you will not be able to do a return for refund.
You will have to apply to get a refund for the tariff through Customs & Border control. You want to save the tariff receipt, screen shots of the return dispute, and a copy of the return shipping label and its tracking information, to get a tariff refund.
I would leave a negative feedback now stating the item location was not Germany as posted, but shipped from China.

An incorrect item location does count as Not As Described, and one can be filed if an item is mailed from a different country or state than the location given on a listing.
