Did not receive package
I order an item from a seller and did not receive it. The seller provided tracking - but the UPS delivery image did not show it delivered to my home. I opened a case with Ebay and they said it was delivered case closed. I contacted UPS and they confirmed the tacking number provided by the seller was not sent or delivered to my address, I have sent a note to customer explaining the issue and providing the case number from UPS for them to check and confirm the package was NOT delivered to me. I want my money back. Is there anything else I can do? I have yet to hear from customer service.

Unfortunately, the "fake tracking scam" is nothing new. It has been a viable opportunity for crooked sellers and criminals for way over a decade here. eBay still basically relies on DENIAL in hopes you will go away, or requiring information they know is pretty much impossible to obtain.
You still have a few choices, just get "item not received" out of your head, and think FRAUD/fake tracking scam.
You can read this thread and the 'accepted answer' post will outline the choices you have (listed a through d)
Do come back if you have more questions, and do let us know what you chose to do and how it worked out for you so we can advise others.

They are more buyer friendly than Ebay (some will say that is a extreme statement) and are well aware of the false address scam. They will request proof of delivery TO YOUR ADDRESS.

OP1 year agoThanks for all the help and answers. UPS will not issue a letter stating the package was not delivered to my address. They say I need to go back to the seller and have them initiate an investigation. That is not going to happen! Ebay has said the need a letter from UPS. UGH!!!

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/How-do-I-contact-Customer-Support/m-p/32016431#M1783851 -> Automated Assistant, type AGENT -> enter. You will then get more options.
Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.

·1 year agoAlways start with eBay because your complaint helps keep the site clean of scammers.
But remember you are also covered by the chargeback provisions of the credit card you actually paid with and some cards allow claims for up to six months from payment.
Also.
Be sure to use "fake tracking number scam" in every report you make. This is a well known scam to both eBay and credit cards.
But.
If you use a debit card or a gift card to pay online -any site- you are not going to get your refund, just as if you had sent cash.

·1 year agoNote that the reason this was done is because....
Tracking is the ONLY form of PROOF that a Seller has against a Buyer that simply says "I didn't get it".
If a buyer won that case, it would happen 1,000,000 times a day.
Now, some unscrupulous people learned that system, so they advertise items for sale, give a 'fake' item shipped to the SAME zip code (since that is the ONLY thing that is shown on tracking) and blam- seller wins; buyer loses.
As stated by others, there is a way to 'appeal' and win your money back.

Get a letter from UPS stating the package was not addressed to you.
Go to your purchase history and click return item and select, the item doesn't match the description as the reason.
The seller will have 3 days to accept the return and pay return shipping or refund without returning.
If they don't, return to the case on day 4 and ask Ebay to step in.
If the seller provides a shipping label, ship them a copy of the letter from UPS.
