Did I get scammed?
I recently (6/1/23) won an auction for an electric guitar. I promptly paid and now when I checked the status by clicking on the item it no longer shows up and I receive the "We Looked Everywhere" page. Clicking on the sellers ID shows they're No Longer Registered.
This was a rather large purchase: $521 plus shipping.
Do I have to wait for the window of time to ship or should I contact eBay right away?

OP3 years agoI contacted eBay and I was informed the seller was removed from eBay for violations. I asked why he wasn't at least allowed to complete the transaction and ship the item. They said he was suspended because of "fraudulent selling".
I asked "How can it be fraudulent selling when eBay didn't even give him a chance to fulfill the order before they suspended him?"
eBay said On May 25, he was warned about "Seller opted into managed payments and on June 1st there were a 2nd warning."
Then on June 2nd, he was suspended due to "Email appears suspicious due to using a known high risk domain, an obvious email name alias, or email does not match registered name in any way".
So eBay refunded my purchase and the case is closed. Just frustrating because I really wanted that guitar and got it at an excellent price.

·3 years agoIt’s strange that a CS rep told you all that info aside from the date they got suspended. I thought they weren’t able to due to privacy policies. If you really wanted that item at that price you paid, had you not gotten eBay CS involved the seller might have had a chance to ship your item anyway since they had your payment. If that happened and you found out something was wrong with the guitar, you still would have been protected by eBay Money Back Guarantee.
But now that eBay took the payment from the seller and gave it back to you, there’s no chance they’ll send the guitar.

OP3 years agoWell one thing I for got to mention was the seller had the "Make offer" option on the auction. Before I bid I made an offer and the seller did not respond. As it turned out my winning bid was actually $5 less than the offer I had sent. So I'm fairly certain the seller was happy they weren't required to ship and probably wouldn't have shipped even without eBay CS getting involved.

When you go to your purchase history and see the item title for the guitar, you should also see an Order Details box. click on that to see what the estimated delivery dates are. On the day after the last estimated delivery date you can file an Item Not Received (INR) dispute.
The dispute will then show up on your My ebay summary page, and the seller will have 3 days to respond, if they do not, on day 4 an Ask ebay to step in button will be available click on it and a refund will be processed.
You should open the link below for eBay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) and read the info. Save or bookmark it for future use.

·3 years agoHow long ago since you paid and when you noticed the seller is no longer registered? If you really want the item at that price, I’d wait at least until the last day of the given ETA of the item. It’s possible the seller still shipped it to you already.
Worst case, eBay will still protect you. As someone else said you have 30 days to file a claim and you’ll be protected.

·3 years agoThere has apparently been some technical problems on eBay lately but if those have been ruled out you have 30 days from latest estimated delivery date to file item not receive dispute. I once had a case where seller simply did not ship anything and I got all money back, altough it took some time. However, in my case seller did still show up as registered user.
