Delivered but I don’t have the item?
So this is my first time using EBAY, I wanted to look for a golf launch monitor for less than retail since they are so expensive. I found a Garmin R10 for about a third the price so I decided to splurge on myself. The next day I got an email with tracking information. It was really fast, but I’m not sure how things are done through this so I got excited.
Two days after the order was placed, the tracking number I was given says that it was delivered and signed for by someone. I didn’t sign for it, no one that lives in my house signed for it. I’ve messaged the seller, who by the way has hardly any seller reviews and that’s my mistake for not doing alittle research, and am awaiting a response.
I guess my question is, how worried should I be? Should I immediately get ebay involved? Or should I wait for the expected delivery date? When I click on track package on the ebay app, I just get an error. I’m just confused and would like some guidance please!

Who was the carrier? USPS? FedEX? UPS? It this is a scam, eBay is going to require that you get written documentation from the carrier that the parcel was not intended for or delivered to you. DO NOT FILE "Item not received" with eBay (or for that matter with PayPal or your credit card).
The system is automated. When there is delivery confirmation attached to the transaction (albeit fake) you will lose any "item not received" claim. Waiting for the expected delivery date is not useful for according to eBay you already have it, even though an empty box may have been sent to your local gas station, or library. The money back guarantee is going to be a fail, and the regular eBay customer service will remain in denial mode "tracking shows delivered".
There are things that you can do, but you first need to determine that the parcel was not intended for you. You do not need to know where it was actually delivered, and you are not likely to get any help from the carrier unless it was USPS, but they will tell you it was not your name and address on the package.
Then you can work from there. Come back when you find out, and in the meantime you can read through some of these. It is scam that has been ongoing here for years. It is successful until this day, mainly because the natural thing for a victim to do is file "item not received", which only enables all involved to ignore the elephant in the room so to speak. Come back for some current options for you. You will get through this, but not to blame the victim here, next time "a price too good to be true" is your first clue to look deeper!

You can try that, but FedEx is not likely to give you the documentation you need. One person got it via a phone call and asked to be connected to the Fraud Department at FedEx. A person there made a letter and attached it to an email with the contact information of the FedEx person that sent it. Generally, eBay will not accept emails, but a separate document may have worked. You have to understand that FedEx did their job, and delivered to the address on the label. It is not their fault you had a crook seller that sent the parcel someplace other than to you. You can also take your purchase/tracking information to a local FedEx office and ask for the same. They may or may not give you a written notice, but they will be able to tell you if the parcel was intended for you or not. Even the size and weight of the package would be helpful at least for YOU to know what you are dealing with.
After that you can decide how to proceed. You will have to contact eBay likely through a social media portal with the evidence you have. If they won't accept it, then on to another choice. Let us know what you find out, and if you can obtain any written proof so you can decide your next steps.

OP2 years agoWent to my local FedEx store, they said it was not in any way addressed to me, so add me to the most recent victims list of this scam. But they said they weren’t allowed to give me any kind of documentation on it because they had to protect the shippers information.

Tell them what has happened so far regarding this FAKE TRACKING SCAM, what FedEx told you, and that the signature was not yours, etc. If this seller is no longer a registered user, or numerous other complaints are rolling in for that seller, they may help you. If they throw you under the bus, there are alternatives.
Though I don't recommend this as a matter of being a good choice, you can file a claim with eBay for a "not as described" reason. Stating wrong item sent or missing parts or pieces as a way of beating the eBay denial bot at their own game. If you have to submit a picture, don't worry. A picture of just about anything will suffice, even a black square. The "seller" will have to provide you a return label, or CASH to purchase recorded delivery back to an international destination. If they don't by day 4, return to the case and ask eBay to step in. You will get a refund. If you do get a label, simply use it to send back exactly what you got....a package of air. You may even get a label with a phony address for the return. It won't matter, just take a screen shot of the label you get for future reference.
Another choice is to file with PayPal if your eBay attempts meet failure and you paid that way. DO NOT file "item not received". They have another choice now especially for this purpose "Shipped to wrong address". I have not personally seen this form, but if you use it do report back as to what it looks like, and if there is a place to provide a description. PayPal is less restrictive in their requirements for this claim, but be advised if you go to the Pal it absolves eBay with any obligation to provide assistance. So it is best to wait until you eBay tells you the equivalent of "go pound sand" before you move on.
If both eBay and the Pal are a FAIL, you can go to your credit card. Make sure they know it is a Fraud/Fake Tracking scam issue and NOT a regular "item not received" issue. Insisting on INR is the fast track to defeat for you where ever you file.
Know that eBay is well aware of this scam, PayPal knows, and the credit card industry is fully aware as well.
