Defective part
I purchased a chrome molding for my 1998 Buick Park Avenue and in less than i year it has begun to blister. I contacted the seller and they replied that they would try to help and replace it if it were in stock. They got back and said it was not in stock and couldnt say if they would be reordering it. I once only got trhrough to speak with an ebay representative and was told to get back to them after giving the seller a few mor days to respond. The seller has not and it has been IMPOSSIBLE to reconnect with a live eBay agent. I've tried every conceivable method. I truly believe they have me blocked. I've been a member for 31 years and have a 100% rating. Can someone please help me to contact eBay?

·4 months ago@msha3839 they don't sell body parts. A body part is dealer only and only for 15 or so years. After that, you have to find 'new OLD stock' being sold or the millions of 'replacement garbage parts' that have been around the past 40 years.

·4 months agoOP can try local body shops, mechanics, junk yards…and in most cases 40 years old parts made way better than new ones..unless custom made and cost a fortune..I have US made cars from 70’s and despite some issues, they built like a tanks…original chrome parts look and made way better than any $100k cars made today…

·4 months agoContacting ebay will do Nothing. They cannot 'force' a seller to do anything a year later. Not even your credit card would accept a chargeback.
You just need to buy another (and being plastic, it is junk anyways so anything you buy that is NOT New/Old Stock (original, assuming it was something from pre 1980, otherwise everything made since is junk).

You responded to @grann-4629 's question saying the part was plastic. It might help if you told us if the part was an interior or exterior trim part. In the 90s GM was using chromed plastic for both but it was more common on interior trim parts. The plastic and paint they used did not stand up well to to summer heat and winter cold. They finally figured that out in the early 2000s.
You might want to do an online search for How can I remove the chrome on plastic automotive parts that has cracked or bubbled.
Then check out the Hobby sites for reviews of Testor, Revell and Krylon chrome spray paints. I used some of the Revell chrome on the prop of an electric powered R/C plane model that held up pretty well. I haven't used the Testor paint but have heard that it isn't quite as bright. The Krylon Special Purpose #1401 spray paint is sold by some auto part companies so it might be a better choice. It costs around $15.
Your last option may be to call a Buick dealer's body shop, ask them if they know which years/models used the part. Then call around to auto scrap yards to see if one has a Buick from those years. Don't be surprised if that part doesn't bubble after awhile though.

·4 months agoThe seller isn’t obligated to do anything. EBay will do nothing cause it’s past the moneyback guarantee of 30 days. They just tell you whatever to get you off the phone.

If you've had the part for more than 30 days you're beyond eBay's Money Back Guarantee deadline. If so, talking to eBay will do nothing. If the listing specifically said the item had a warranty you might have luck with a dispute with your payment source.

I did speak with an eBay agent days ago and was told due that eBay would step in if the seller did not replace the item, a car molding that should last the life of my car. It blistered/bubbled in only one year.
The seller stated that he would replace the defective molding if he had it in stock. He will not commit to restocking it and quit responding to me.
I have not been able to regenerate the Call us/Have us call you link. Any ideas to connect with support?

Actually a waste of time. eBay will do nothing for you after all this time has elapsed, but they will tell you that they will just to get you off the phoe. .

·4 months agoeBay must know that their off-shore agents are useless and lie just to get you off the phone. Why do they even bother to hire and pay these agents when most of them know nothing and are very hard to understand? They should either free up some of their money and hire people that can help, or dump this 'help' service completely .. all it does is annoy people. They should change their mandate to 'sorry Pal, you're on your own.'

·4 months agoCheaper to buy a new parts from reputable suppliers than re chrome parts..fave a few cars from 70’s and early 80’s and in most cases parts are cheap..

The problem is that eBay only gives a 30 day return window. You are wasting your time trying to talk to an agent that can't do anything for you on an item you purchased months ago.
The agent that told you that has no power to overide eBay rules. They are a second party service that reads from a cheat sheet and will make stuff up to get you off and on to the next call. They are notorious for giving inaccurate information and telling callers what they want to hear.
It may even be too late to do a Credit Card chargeback if that's how you paid. "less than a year" doesn't really tell exactly how long ago you bought it but sounds like 10 or 11 months?
Best to find a real one (metal) somewhere else..........................
