DEADBEAT Seller - Automatically Cancelled Auction for not getting Price they wanted!
Summary: bob-here expressed frustration after a seller canceled an auction they won, criticizing eBay's lack of protection against such actions. They accused the seller of canceling because the final bid was too low and highlighted difficulties in leaving negative feedback. Other participants clarified that eBay does penalize sellers for improper cancellations, explaining the seller's potential motivations and how eBay's policies work. They encouraged focusing on sellers with good feedback and explained the consequences for sellers with too many cancellations. Additional clarifications were made regarding who is responsible for fees in these situations.
>>>>> DEADBEAT! <<<<<< I won a Auction.
1 - Seller Immediately Cancelled Order Because He Did Not Get the Price he Wanted!
2 - I Never asked him to Cancel the Order and only wanted the Speakers!
3 - He claimed to have ended Auction Early but I was the Winner!
4 - I even asked what he wanted $.
5 - TRYING TO HELP PROTECT OTHER HONEST BUYERS AGAINST BOGUS SELLERS LIKE THIS!
6 - Ebay has ZERO - ZERO PROTECTION to Leave Negative Feedback on Ebay Scam SELLERs!
7 - Ebay makes it very Hard to report them HONESTLY, so they get held responsible for Scamming People!
8 - I wonder how many other "Victims" They have did this Too; since their is absolutely ZERO Ebay Accountablity to report or stop scammers like this on their site.
9 - Ebay even BLOCKS Leaving a Negative Honest Feedback, so they NEVER HAVE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF THEIR CONTINUE SCAMMING OF OTHERS?
What a Ebay Scam! Look, Ebay refuses to hold any "Bogus Seller" accountable because without 100% supporting the Sellers in every Case, they will go out of Business. Ebay MAKES ALL their PROFITS on SELLERS, so they 100% cater to Them over the Buyer!
Then ebay Makes it impossible to Stop Scammers like this on their Website.

The seller did not cancel an auction you won! they ended the auction on the 2nd of September with 3 days left to run, maybe because they made a mistake in the starting bid price or because there were so few bids and possibly no watchers.
Sellers are allowed to end auctions early but they are supposed to cancel the bids first. The screen shot below is from the following policy link
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/creating-managing-listings/ending-listing?id=4146
As you can see the seller could have been charged a final value fee on the highest bid. I hope you did not expect to win those speakers at your bid price.
"3 - He claimed to have ended Auction Early but I was the Winner!
4 - I even asked what he wanted $."
Considering the anger you have displayed here, if your message conveyed the same disappointment, I could understand them not responding and their probable blocking of you.
" 9 - Ebay even BLOCKS Leaving a Negative Honest Feedback, so they NEVER HAVE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF THEIR CONTINUE SCAMMING OF OTHERS?"
Since the auction was Ended before a winner was declared, no feedback should have been able to be left. The positive you left with the negative comment was a feedback policy violation and could be reported by the seller.

eBay absolutely does punish sellers for "cancelling auctions for not getting the price they want."
Auctions can only be cancelled at certain times (hours remaining in the auction period) and when there are no bids at all.
If a seller cancels an auction with bids, eBay can charge that seller their Final Value Fees (FVFs). Most categories carry a 13.6% FVF; on a cancelled auction, that percentage is applied to the highest bid.
EDIT:
So the
buyer!!! SELLER !!! does have to pay eBay.eBay offers a checklist of just a few valid reasons for eBay sellers to cancel a purchase.
"Not Getting The Money I Want" is not a valid reason to cancel an auction.
So usually sellers will not be completely honest and they check the box that says "Out Of Stock." eBay has no way to verify whether it's truly Out Of Stock or not.
An "Out Of Stock" cancellation will result in a Defect on that seller's record, that sticks around for one year. Too many such cancellations, and eBay can charge higher fees for that seller. Waaaaay too many such cancellations, and eBay will suspend (fire) the seller.
Unfortunately, eBay sellers do not have to pass any kind of test showing that they have read and learned anything from eBay's Help pages or Policy pages or User Agreement.
Too many newer sellers have posted questions here in these forums that show their sad lack of information.
I can only suggest you look for and at eBay sellers who have a lot of sales and a lot of very good feedback.

I suggest that you open the link below and read what I wrote at the end of my reply. This was not a cancelled sale, it was an auction ended early.
"Unfortunately, eBay sellers do not have to pass any kind of test showing that they have read and learned anything from eBay's Help pages or Policy pages or User Agreement".
Neither do buyers unfortunately!!

I would have paid more, but since this is a Auction, and the Seller Refused to put a "Make Offer" I couldn't increase my price.
Clearly this Scam Seller has done this before, and knows that if they immediately cancel the order, and claim their is a Issue on their end with it, they are 100% Scott Free, and Ebay can never stop them! And since me the Buyer, can NOT leave any Negative Feedback NOR has ebay get involved, this is a CYCLE OF BOGUSLY EXPLOITING EBAY WEAKNESSES, that allows them to do this Over and Over, and NO ONE, not even Ebay can Stop them of doing this for Years, and to Play with 100s of Honest Buyers!

·1 month agoNo, they can't do it over and over for years. As monroe67 explained, when a seller cancels a sale they get a defect on their account. It doesn't take many of those before eBay will suspend their ability to sell. So yes, eBay can and does stop them.

You can leave them feedback here.
