customer service
I plan on buying from Ebay as little as posible in the future. Ebay has no way to reach a real person when there is a problem. I guess it is true Amazon is going to rule the world of online purchacing. This is sad Ebay was so good in the past, now it's time for them to maximize profits.

·2 years agoAt 76 years of age, you need to understand that customer service is a dying or died profession. The years of going up to someone and asking questions, seeking assistance, trying something is long gone and replaced with a self-service module. Either adapt and learn it, or accept the disappointments and perhaps pay more, or get nothing. Companies have shifted their focus and minimize cost by eliminating the "service" part.

·2 years agoMost problems on eBay can be handled without having to speak with a person.
And buyers have the Money Back Guarantee. If you'd like to return and give details, we would like to help if we can.

·2 years agoPS: If this is connected to the recent FB you left for a seller, if you have not received your package, why not open an item not received case?

·2 years agoEvidently you have not recently had a problem with Amazon. I did. Impossible to resolve with the automated options and scripts, so it remains unresolved and forever will.
Marketplaces such as this one and Amazon, retailers, banks, insurance companies, medical providers, you-name-it, are ALL are shedding human employees and relying on automated systems, scripts, AI, chat-bots to handle customers.
It is true that 999 times out of 1000, an automated system does the job -- and it is far more cost effective to lose that occasional, frustrated , 1000th customer than to use human beings for customer service.

Amazon and eBay work under the same customer service model, that being getting a call back. Ebay actually has the edge, because most of eBay's problem resolution procedures are fully automated. If you'll explain your issue we may be able to tell you how to use one of those automated methods.

OP2 years agoAt 76 years of age I need a person to speak to. Most of the time the automated system doesn't understand me, or the answers have nothing to do with the problem.

·2 years agoIf it's any consolation, a lot of us here are past social security age... you can contact CS through ebay for business on facebook. That's where the knowledgeable CS reps are.

·2 years agoYou've misunderstood what I meant by 'automated'. This isn't a system you talk to. It's choices you access through your purchase history. Didn't receive an item? Go to the item in your purchase history and select 'I didn't receive it' to open a refund case under eBay's Money Back Guarantee. It's not rocket science. So again, if you'll explain your issue we can most likely tell you how to easily solve it.
Playing the age card here is a bit pointless. Many of us are well over retirement age (including me). One of our regular posters is 90.

·2 years agoI'm older than you, and we're both old enough to know that times and technologies change -- sometimes in ways we personally like, and sometimes in ways we personally do not like. You and I have already adapted to huge changes, and there are more to come. 👵

·2 years agoHi @gripfitter951
All I'll say is that you must not have tried to reach an Amazon rep lately. Boy, have things changed over there! 😋
