I should clarify ,why is there not a easy process to report counterfeit and forbidden items ?
The problem is not providing an easy process to report items. The problem is that eBay has no way to verify who's right -- the seller who says the item is genuine or the person reporting it who says it's not. Let's say you're a seller who decides there's too much competition. So you report all your competitor's listings as counterfeit. If eBay just took your word for it and removed all your competitor's listings, and if a huge number of sellers jumped on the "report your competitors" bandwagon, there soon would be 15 sellers on the site.
The absolute best way to get listings for counterfeits pulled is to report them to the rights holder. If they're a VERO member all they have to do is tell eBay to pull the listings and the listings will be gone.

@mmwholesales67,
If a listing has a Brand Name title and photos of the brand name product, how is ebay supposed to know that the item being sent is not the brand name product? If ebay had fulfillment centers where stock is kept, that shipped the items to buyers, they could do something about that. Since they do not, they cannot determine if the seller is sending what is advertised.
There is one thing you can keep in mind. While many Brand Named items are manfactured in China, those companies do not allow their Branded products to be sold by China based sellers as they would have a huge distribution cost advantage over their authorized dealer sellers, in other countries.
Earlier this morning, I found exactly what you have asked about in another topic, that was about a shipping problem. When I checked the feedback profile of the author of that topic I was able to find the the listing for what was bought by looking at the negative they left. Read what I wrote about it, using the link below, then find and open the listing to see what I found. Not all scammers make the mistake that seller did, but enough do make it worth checking out what you can look for.
Most buyers do not bother with a return and just eat the item. ebay makes the money
That statement is probably the FURTHEST from the truth.
MOST people DO return items they don't want- happens a Million times a day.
And with 'not as described' all a person has to do is click a blue button, slap the shipping label on the item that is Given to them and have the Postman pick it up. Simple.
Soh.maryl , I am sure that ebay knows that all of those Lego figures from China are counterfeit. But ebay can't shut them down permanently. The minute one gets shut down, they get a new account or several new accounts. Have you seen how some listings have the same photos and they are different sellers? I once saw an entire Ebay page of the same item , same photos and different seller IDs and the same or almost the same the price. IP addresses are private in China. Those scammers have multiple accounts. One goes down, another one will pop up immediately. Nothing will stop China from producing counterfeits. The country thrives on selling counterfeits. It's not considered bad over there either. The thing a buyer can do is look carefully at the ad and buy only if they are in the USA and even that is difficult because many of them have their garbage stock in the USA already.
There is not a person looking at the 1,000,000 listings a day that go on and off the site. This is an automated site managed by bots for 90% of the things that go on here.
If the owner of the copyright sees it and wants to have it stopped, they can join VERO and stop it; or if enough buyers complain, the seller will be stopped (over time).
I recall there used to be a reporting process on Ebay for forbidden items. I could not find any link on current E-bay . I know for a fact what this seller is selling is counterfeit ,yet there is no means to report it as such
There is a REPORT ITEM link on EVERY listing; you can click it, pick 'counterfeit' etc...
But know that it takes more than 1 person reporting and if that 'reporter' sells the same type items and is NOT a VERO (reporting under VERO) then that report is treated to the circular file (will be ignored).

·3 years agoNo; they don't.
They just have to 'refund' those fees when the buyer opens a return on the fake.
So again, eBay is NOT allowing it.

·3 years ago1. How would eBay know it was counterfeit? They do not see the item you're buying.
2. If you've been the recipient of such an item, are you opening item not as described cases?
