counterfeit silver coins
I want to know why e-bay or the United States government has not stepped in to stop the counterfeit coins being sold on this platform. I see people buying these fake coins all the time. Some maybe don't know and I think some are going to try to pass these fakes off on other people as real. If anybody would take the time you can spot these fakes right off. Why and how can we stop it and why e-bay has not.

·2 years agoNeither eBay, the US gov't or any coin expert ever sees anything listed on eBay.
When anyone is buying anything on eBay, they need to know what they are doing.
If they discover that any item is not as described, they have the MBG for protection.

·2 years agoI wish, one good thing is that the government and private organizations do investigate them and have from time to time taken down large operations. It takes time and the feds will want to roll up their entire organization from top to bottom, so sometimes they don't move until they have all their ducks in a row. Frustrating but understandable.

·2 years agoFake coins have been around as long as coins. Buyers need to know what they are buying. Buying from a trusted dealer is the first step. Checking feedback can help. Ever notice how wheat pennies always seem to jump to the ends of a roll?

·2 years agoAll you can do is report the listing to Ebay. Ebay will remove the listings if they are counterfeit coins. I do not buy raw coins online. I only buy certified coins online.

Are you sure? Whose word will they take in proof of that claim?
How do they know the person who reports them as counterfeit is not a coin seller trying to take down the competition?
Respectfully, we probably should not be telling others that eBay will remove the listings unless we know for sure that that's what will happen.

·2 years agoIn the last two or three months I have browse over 12, maybe 15, so called 1928P Peace Dollars many I queried respectfully and politely that were clearly other than 1928P Peace Dollar coins. Many corrected their "errors"; many of these already had bids. Two or three were clearly counterfeit Chinese with 1928 Obverse and 1921 Reverses! And one seller refused to delist and it was still there a month on. Some even were missing "ONE DOLLAR" on their reverses. I am not a coin expert and not a member of the EBAY police!; but the coin community and EBAY need to remove the fraudulent sellers and the fake coins or lose honest sellers and buyers to other platforms. EBAY can check my numerous communications and see that nothing untoward has been said to sellers or even implied.

eBay has approximately 2 billion listings on this site, they can’t possibly monitor every single one. They rely on reports sent in from members on the site. If you see a listing you feel is counterfeit then by all means report it.
The government doesn’t monitor this site either, so feel free to report the same as above to the authorities.
