counterfeit product
I purchased a product from the seller and upon opening it I could smell the product an knew it was a fake. I used it several times to try it out and yes it was counterfeit. 100% sure. I contacted the seller. They wanted pictures which I sent. Then suddenly they deleted their ebay account. There is absolutely NO WAY to speak to a real person at ebay or to chat with a real person. It is so ridiculous. They send you in a circle and then just hang up. So frustrated.

·2 years agoGo to "Help & Contact"
Go to "Contact Us"
Follow prompts to "Chat with our automated assistance"
Ask automated assistant "Can i speak to a live person"
It will ask you if "You'd like to call Ebay" or if you'd like "Ebay to call you"
I always pick "Ebay to call me"
I've never waited more than 2 minutes to receive a call, and they've always been more than helpful

·2 years agoEven Walmart has a 90 day limit; fake or not.
With you allowing that much time, there is no proof that what you 'have' is what you received or received from this particular seller, that is why, at least- there is SOME type of 'time limit'.
eBay is not much different that a newspaper that allows advertising (and charges the ad placer); but they are a little better in that they have 30 day MBG.

OP2 years agoThe issue is that the product is fake and because it's past 90 days I can't get any resolution. I'm not able to speak to a single customer service rep.

The eBay Money Back Guarantee covers purchases for 30 days from the date of delivery. If you let it go longer than that, then your only recourse is with your credit card company.

·2 years agoYour seller wanted pictures of a smell? 😑
Do as Ken advises. It's automated, so you won't have to speak to a real person at all. Good luck.
Oops... I posted just after your latest, @pjvaldez03. Go to your payment source... you have 180 days with them.

OP2 years agoThank you for your response. I know I can dispute this with my credit card company but I thinkebay need to take responsibility for counterfeit items and the sellers responsible for them.

·2 years agoHi @pjvaldez03
Like most other selling venues I know of, eBay will accept returns for 30 days from date of delivery. [Listings are completely deleted after 90 days because of computer memory issues.]
It sounds like eBay has already ‘taken responsibility’ by removing the seller from their platform. There’s no way a seller with recent sales could have cancelled their own account.
The only question remaining is how long do you intend to wait before requesting a chargeback from your credit card company. If you’ve had the item longer than 90 days … you have limited, if any, time left to file a claim. DO IT NOW! There’s nothing left for eBay to do for you. It’s time to help yourself.

OP2 years agoAfter being on a chat for 3 hours with ebay, and being assured that they would refund, in the end no refund. Luckily, AmEx took care of it in about 10 min. And yes, this merchant was indeed removed by ebay for selling counterfeit products.

Great ... mission accomplished! 😊
I'm very glad you were still able to get refunded. Credit card companies vary widely as to how long their customers have to file an 'item not as described' case. Some offer fewer than 90 days to file a case.

·2 years agoThey do........for 30 days

OP2 years agoI have done that. It will not accept my description probably because it's past the 90 day return date. The seller deleted their account after I contacted them about this issue.

·2 years agoAfter 90 days, it's to late for any help from Ebay.
The MBG is only good for 30 days after you receive the item.
Contact your payment source and see if they can be any help.

OP2 years agoWhether or not it's past 90 days it's still a fake product and I should be able to contact someone at ebay and get some resolution. Especially when the seller deleted their account after I contacted them about this

·2 years agoIf you had acted promptly, you would have gotten resolution from eBay. Not their fault you waited so long to do anything about this.

·2 years agoA seller can't "delete their account" until at least several months have passed after their last transaction So the seller didn't just close their account. eBay closed it for them, that's the only way a seller's account can be closed that fast. They actually keep the account open long enough to deal with any refunds that might be needed, even if the account is restricted from any more transactions, and may appear to be closed.

·2 years agoNo seller can close their acct that quickly, it takes months if they had recent sales. Ebay suspended them.

The seller's suspension was your resolution... on this platform, anyway.

·2 years agoeBay didn't sell you the product and the seller is no longer registered. They didn't delete their account, eBay did. Sellers closing their account does not happen overnight, it takes 90 days or more for someone to close their account when requested by the seller.
If you knew the product was fake, why did you use it anyway?
As it is well past the 30 days (over 90), there is nothing eBay will be able to help you with so there is nothing to talk to the CS about at this point.
In the future, be sure to check feedback before buying esp their score. There might have been some red flags there esp if there were negatives and low feedback score.

·2 years agoSorry, but it wouldn't do any good if you did contact CS.
The MBG is only good for 30 days and after that, they won't do anything.
The seller can't just delete their account, but Ebay can .
momtoabeautifuldaughter
·2 years agoYou had 30 days to open a case with eBay, you waited 90 days so way too long.
albertabrightalberta
·2 years agoPast 90 days?! You're way too late for a dispute. You had 30 days from the date of delivery to open a case through ebay.

Go to your purchase history and click return item and select, the item doesn't match the description as the reason.
The seller will have 3 days to accept the return and pay return shipping or refund without returning.
If they don't, return to the case on day 4 and ask Ebay to step in.
