COUNTERFEIT
Purchased an item on eBay in May. Manufacturer just revealed to me that the item is counterfeit.
Now past the return period (30 days) so eBay/PayPal are declining action. Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this?

·11 months agoI have reported my purchases from April 2024 through June 2024 as eBay has allowed and profited from “verified†sellers who have chosen to list their live auctions as “EBAY LIVE†item # _____ for luxury goods to us “the buyers†knowing that each luxury good will not be sent to authentication department. Since the sellers do not disclose the brand name of the item in their live auctions, they are off the hook by eBay if they’re scam is not reported within 30 days. Authenticity Guarantee will not cover items that are not properly titled on eBay live auction. Therefore, items $500 or more are shipped to you, you will believe it passed inspection, and your item is properly verified. Three weeks ago, I was told by the authentication process that none of my purchases in 2024 have been properly verified as legitimate products from luxury brands. At first, I thought about $12,000 of my purchases were in jeopardy. However, I just sold a bag that had a certificate of authenticity from the seller, over the value of $500 but never went through eBay Authenticity Department, the item is now being shipped back to me as my buyer was protected under “Authenticity Guarantee†because I listed it properly. Now my total loss amount is well over $20,000 as NOTHING WAS ACTUALLY AUTHENTICATED PROPERLY AND EBAY IS TAKING ZWRO RESPONSIBILITY. I have filed with the Ic3 managed by FBI and will file lawsuit. I screen recorded my winnings on the eBay platform, live auctions, I’ve taken a picture of the items that are now my possession with the words, authenticity guarantee underneath them, and eBay is still not taking any responsibility for the facilitation of counterfeit goods on their website.

·11 months agoYour post is a little confusing. I presume these were designer bags you purchased, since you mention the $500 price point. But the bags were not listed with the designer names? When a bag is authenticated, its shipped to the buyer with the authenticity tag attached, none of your bags had that tag? If it did not have the tag, it handnt been verified. But you presumed it had?

That is who you need to file a chargeback with at this point in time.

I'm not quite sure why that information was requested. The answer is still the same. If you received the item more than 30 days ago your only option is to file a dispute with your payment source.
