Could seller refused to refund becase they've paid tax (on their side) ?
Hi, it is a strange situation I recently met.
I made an order in Europe and the item was supposed to ship from French to Japan. But when it arrived my post office it was failed to deliver. I visited the post office and checked that the address on the parcel was not complete. The parcel is now on its way back to France.
I don't want to wait (it has been a month already ) , and so I just want to have my refund. But seller refused and said he has paid the tax so he can't refund . I don't know about the tax works in France . So my questions are ,
1) Does it exist in France? ( VAT on international orders ???? ) I don't remember any tax collected when I placed my order.
2) Could a seller refused to refund because of VAT , in elsewhere of Europe ?

·2 years agoEBay's Money Back Guarantee trumps whatever the seller tells you about not refunding. On the day after the last estimated delivery date go to the item in your purchase history and select 'I didn't receive it' to open a case. Four business days later go back to the case and ask eBay to step in. Ebay will then refund you.

OP2 years agoI just received message from seller wishing me to close the case. He said there is a 90 days buyer guarantee something so I shouldn't worry to much. Should I follow?
I really wish to know whether the seller is honest about the French tax since I ma very unfamiliar with.

·2 years agoDo not close the case until you get your satisfaction, in this case the refund you are due. Follow eBay's dates and instructions carefully on the case.

I have never heard of French VAT apply to Japan as well!
I almost wished to close the case since the seller really pushed all actions to my site, like asking me to visit my local post office ! I did and there I discovered the parcel's returning date has been more than a month ago! I should have kept an eye on that shipment. The seller didn't uploaded it to ebay before the case but messaged me only!
Now what I felt is like the seller never care about what happen after shipping , and even not willing to be in touch with the problem .

·2 years agoThe seller is quite likely not honest. If you close the case it can't be reopened. And there's no 90-day guarantee. If you've opened a case go back to it after four business days, ask eBay to step in, and get your refund. The seller is trying to pull a fast one.

OP2 years agoI almost wished to close it since I felt really annoying and unhelpful in the conversation . Thanks for the advice. I think I would ask ebay to step in .
TBH it is kind of strange that the parcel still has not returned to the seller after 1 month . I wonder what is happening there as well .

Return to the case on day 4 and ask Ebay to step in.
