Contact Seller
When I need clarification about an item or shipping that is unclear in the listing, I use the 'contact seller' on the listing page. Do my queries go to the seller's email address and the eBay message list, or just the eBay list?
I am asking because I am interested in an item and have tried to contact the seller a couple of times over the past week with no response. My questions do show up on my eBay messages. I am wondering if the seller doesn't check his eBay messages and hasn't seen my question.

·5 months agoQuite honestly, some sellers just won't be bothered with answering questions, and it isn't just the big volume guys, it's also some small sellers too. I have even heard or read that some sellers put buyers on their block list just because they ask a question. I don't understand it but it's their business.
If I ask a question and the seller doesn't answer, I just find another seller.

OP5 months agoThanks. It was a question about shipping cost. The listing includes several paragraphs about shipping costs that contradict each other. Taking your advice ... took it off my watch list.

·5 months agoIf they have several paragraphs about shipping, I'll bet they think they have everything covered and buyers shouldn't have to ask them questions so they don't want to be bothered. Even worse if their costs contradict each other; they probably haven't figured out that part yet.

·5 months agoSome sellers, especially high volume sellers, have their account set up so that they do not get messages from buyers. I don't think you will get anything that tells you that.
I would move on to another seller. This is the only want to make sure you do not make a purchase you are not happy with.

·5 months agoI think that there once was a way for sellers to turn off receiving messages through listings … AND that buyers could tell that they wouldn’t be able to message that particular seller. [This was in contrast to trying to message a seller who has blocked you, where you couldn’t tell that the message didn’t go through.]
It’s been a few years since I tried to message a seller who had messaging turned off … and I haven’t seen OPs asking about it recently … so something could have changed.]

·5 months agoI think last I checked, you could turn off the option on this page to hide the "Message seller" button on your listings: https://www.ebay.com/cnt/ManageSellerFAQ
However, it did not seem to disable the Contact link on your profile or storefront.
I'm going to test it now, in fact.
Edit: confirmed, you can still be contacted through your storefront or profile page if you uncheck that option. It didn't even seem to remove the option to message the seller through a listing, so it may be a defunct setting.

·5 months agoYour messages from eBay messages goes to the sellers eBay messages. If they don't check it or don't answer nothing you can do. I would find another seller because if you need their help after the sell then your are likely to receive the same responce, nothing.
To see messages you sent look in you sent folder.

·5 months agoThe seller gets an email whenever a message is received. Some sellers check their email throughout the day and some don't. This might be a sign to find another seller.
