·10 months agoIt would be beneficial if @optimisma13 would return and tell us exactly what happened (the links he clicked or the steps he took or any communication that happened) to make this occur. Something more had to be there for it to happen as he stated.

·10 months agoYou can contact seller via message and ask if he/she willing to accept your offers..did it multiple times and never had an issue..seller simply sends me an offer directly…

·10 months agoFor safety, my card is locked. Then I check out on any auctions won or offers accepted WITH ANOTHER CARD.

·10 months agomore had to have happened here...like if messaged in the offer, the seller may have responded with "send offers" and the OP accepted, but I don't think that triggers auto payment. For auto payment to initiate, the buyer must have sent an official offer that was then accepted and paid.
I would need to see the original listing to know that the seller didn't have best offer initiated, this transaction says otherwise, but not clear

You said "asking if a seller would accept a lower price". Did you just send them a message asking something like "would you take $x.xx for this item"?
I get those all the time, and no, that's not a real offer, and no, I can't just accept that and have a sale go through. I have to go in and send a real offer or change the listing price.
If you used the "make an offer" button at the top of the message you sent, then you weren't asking the seller a question, you were making an real offer, and that is a binding deal.

If the seller did not have "make an offer" enabled on their listings and you made an offer anyway, did you not intend to honor that offer? If sellers do not have the "make an offer" enabled on their listings, that usually means their price is as listed and they are not going to play games with offers and counteroffers.
In this instance, you offered a price, the seller was okay with that price and accepted your offer. You bought an item.

If you message a seller who does not have best Offer on listing about accepting a lower price, it can trigger an offer acceptance from the seller. If they have "auto payment" enabled and accept, your payment will be sent. Before ebay changed the messaging system sometimes a note used to pop up when asking about a price change that said send offer. I haven't sent one of those messages in a long time, so I'm not sure if that still happens.

·10 months agoIf the offer is accepted by the seller, the order would be placed and you would be charged.
Ebay's Policy - "If you’ve enabled autopay, eBay will collect payment from you once the seller accepts your offer and the item will be secured instantly"
