Confusing message from ebay.
Shopping for a Dyson vacuum to replace one I broke last night.
Listed at $200.
Seller offered it at $190.
I declined and made a counter-offer of $175.
Then I receive this message from ebay...
I went ahead an clicked on "finish this purchase" only to find out that I just bought it for $200.
Did I misunderstand that message from ebay?

I click on the cart and I get this.
What a mess!

OP6 months agoThe seller was very friendly and cooperative.
He said he would have accepted my $175 offer but also saw that ebay charged me $200.
Promptly gave me a $25 discount.
So it turned out well in this case, but ebay definitely has to fix this.

·6 months agoThis has happened to me as a buyer and seller. As @mudshark61369 stated its a glitch in the system which Ebay needs to correct.

Because there may be a glitch in ebay's system, I would contact the seller ask them to cancel the current transaction and relist it with the $175 offer price as a special listing for your username. The problem with just asking for a $25 refund is that you also paid tax on the original price and the seller did not receive those funds.
If your seller checks out to be a new or infrequent one they may not know how to cancel or if it will affect their account so you may have to tell them to do a Google search for " How a seller cancel an order, ebay " and to use the Buyer requested cancellation option.

·6 months agoThe problem is when a seller make an offer, the listing with the original price stays up. You needed to go back to the offers section of your my eBay page and purchase it from there. That message link took you to the original listing without the offer. I think that is a bug in eBay's code. It should have taken you to the discounted offer.

OP6 months agoI went to my purchase history, view order details, it shows I paid $200 + shipping + tax = $267.49.

·6 months agoThat’s awful, @inhawaii ! Have you contacted the seller, explaining and respectfully requesting a refund of $25? Seems like this would be easier than cancellation which you could request as well? Best of wishes.
