Communication with seller sabotaged
I have an item that I won and has just become late in delivery. I attempted to communicate with seller. Every time I try the promt refuses to work. How did the seller sabotage the communication function?

·10 months agoI've been selling here for 25 years and I have no idea how a seller can "sabotage communication" I think it is more likely some other issue. If an item still seems to be tracking what do you expect the seller to do about it, or is this just a case of needing reassurance and hand holding?

OP10 months agoWent to auction and clicked link to communicate with seller. Want to cancel my bid on a vehicle. I have had another repair bill pop up unexpectedly. That takes priority over a project Beamer. The window opened. I started to type but it wouldn't accept my keystrokes because a different window kept popping up. This occurred on another auction as well when I tried to contact the seller with a question. This morning I tried again and I was able to type my message. I have had A LOT of sellers back out on me over the years regarding vehicles. Some cancelled after accepting my offer and my confirming it with them. What is that? it seems only fair to give the seller a heads up on wanting out of the transaction before hand rather than winning the auction then changing my mind after the seller could have sold the car to the runner up. It's the right thing to do. Don't you agree?

·10 months agoSounds like you have an issue causing you pop-ups.
May want to start looking into either running a virus scan or browser scan for add-ons that are trying to "help" you type in a box, or try a different browser.
The Seller's in these instances are not causing your issue.
Also, bids on automobiles aren't binding like they are on other items that eBay sells:
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/rules-policies-buyers/nonbinding-bid-policy?id=4228&st=3&pos=1&query=Non-binding%20bid%20policy&intent=automobile%20auctions%20bids%20are%20not%20binding%3F&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1175
For motor vehicles and real estate, bids are considered non-binding. When you bid on an item in these categories, you're expressing a strong interest in buying the seller's item, but no formal purchase contract is created if you're the winning bidder. For more details on non-binding bids, please see our full policy guidelines below.

maryl did answer your question. The people who post here are all experienced buyers and sellers like yourself who try to help posters with questions or problems. When you post on these boards, you are invited to accept any replies you like and disregard any that you don't like.
Your answer to her was uncalled for.
So, to answer your question, the seller did not sabotage anything; he may have put you on his blocked list, especially if you have sent him several messages or if your messages were not considered "pleasant". Not saying you did, I have no idea, just saying that some sellers don't want to deal with some buyers' questions and that is their right.

OP10 months agoYour answer is eloquent. Mine is not. The seller has sabotaged communication. Today I tried to cancel a bid on a car but communication was sabotaged on that auction as well. This is a new phenomenon for me. It is unpleasant. Problems will ensue.

·10 months agoYou never actually explained how you think the seller has "sabotaged communication". We're all guessing at what might be happening, but if you gave some details on what is actually happening when you try to send a message to the seller, I suspect you'll find that there is another explanation.

·10 months agoAm sure you know this, just a reminder. A buyer cannot unilaterally cancel a bid. A buyer CAN, however, request that the seller cancel the bid; however, the seller isn't required to cancel at the buyers request.
And I'd really like to hear further details of the sabotage you mention.

·10 months agoIt seems that maybe your problem lies in a fundamental misunderstanding of how ebay works and the lack of language to describe what you are experiencing.
...because you most certainly did not try to cancel a bid. That isn't a thing a buyer can do.

·10 months agoActually canceling (in eBay-speak 'retracting') a bid is something a buyer can do, but only under specific conditions.

·10 months ago@kathiecis exactly correct, if you mean a bid, @ubcensored. If you were trying to cancel/retract an offer or a purchase via Buy It Now or something else, there are different but very specific procedures for each option, with limitations that apply. If you can provide us with the full details of what you did and what you were trying to do, we can either direct you or provide accurate advice.

·10 months agoIf you have won an item on eBay and it's at least one day late in delivery, there's no reason or need to communicate with the seller.
Why not just open an item not received case? You have 30 days after the last estimated delivery date to do this with eBay.
Find this item in your Purchase History and click on "did not receive". The seller has three days to respond to your case. On day #4, return to the case and ask eBay to step in. You'll be refunded from the seller's funds.
How about taking a moment to read the Money Back Guarantee for buyers?

OP10 months agoHow about answering the question asked instead of redirecting me?

·10 months agoI saw a very good answer in that comment from @soh.maryl . It was detailed and provided exact steps.

·10 months agoSeveral people here have suggested that you need to open an item not received case with eBay if the item you ordered is overdue by at least one day, but less than thirty. That's the ONLY way you can resolve your issue.
To answer your question, there is NO eBay requirement that a seller respond to messages. That's one of the reasons why they offer the MBG.
If you'd rather continue to discuss it here instead of opening the item not received case, that's up to you.

·10 months agoYou need not contact the seller.
Find the purchase. Open an Ebay Money Back Guarantee Claim for Item Not Received.
