Coin search option showing wrong results
Hi. I have issues with searching for coin category. The results I get are not appropriate, I get stamps, clothes and other stuff when I search for coin. This has been going on since past 2 weeks, now. I have no saved searches or any filters instated. Not sure what's wrong.

·2 years agoHey if you are getting the wrong categories on a phone I can't help, but on a PC you can see the category list for your results on the upper left side of the result list. If you want to narrow down to say "coins and paper money" just click over there to refine the results!

·2 years agoWell dang it, the US does not have pennies, only cents! LOL I guess a lot of buyers and sellers alike are confused about that.

·2 years agoWhat EXACTLY are you searching for? (word for word- what you are putting in the search?) or are you just looking at the category only? (when I search 'category' and then US coins, there are 1,500,000+ listings and the entire 1st page was ONLY US Coins)

The first thing to try is to put a single one of your keywords inside quotation marks. Don't put two, or that will designate it as a character string, just put one.

·2 years agoI am not disagreeing with you but I will say this, how many potential buyers come to ebay, search for something, get wildly inaccurate results and leave to buy elsewhere?
As someone that is experienced at using the search you know what to do but a casual buyer does not. They want to put in their search and see what they are looking for, not random stuff.
I know you replied to help the current OP (and it does help them). This just shows that this is a problem for users (both sellers and buyers) because ebays search does not properly bring buyers and sellers together.

You're preaching to the choir. eBay's search engine never was the best in the world and the programmers continue to tinker with it, with occasional improvements and occasional unintended consequences.

·2 years agosame thing. search for LINCOLN CENT and get lincoln cars. category was coins, notes paper money. what gives????????????????????????????????????????

It's a Lincoln Penny worth 1 cent- not a 'Lincoln Cent'.
When I put Lincoln Penny (no quotations) I get 250,000+ results and the entire 1st page of 200 was nothing but what I searched for
It was also still in 'All Categories' on the top right, if you click it to 'Coins' etc, it came back with 260,000+ results and again, all 1st page of 200 was correct.

·2 years agoI have not had an issue with searching for coins. It may be a tech issue with ebay have you tried to notify them?
