Circumventing Ebay
Price listed as $17444.00. made an offer and seller claims price is now over $20,000.00.Seller won't sell through Ebay. Wants to sell directly outside of Ebay. Also the listing says 30 day return. Seller has phone number on listing so i call and ask if the 30 days can be extended to 60 days as this chiller needs to go freight. it will take some time to arrive then need to contract electrician to hook it up and if it doesn't work the electrician needs to unhook, unit needs to be crated back up and then contact freight company to pick it up and deliver back to sellers. Unit is in Connecticut and i am in Michigan. My fear is the 30 days would run out. Seller then communicates there is no return policy even thought listing says 30 day reurn. and want s to sell direct. Seller is using Ebay as an advertising method. Seller is actually a company that sells chillers. This is totally against Ebay's policy. The add should be taken down. Hoe do i get Ebay to do just that?

·3 years agoIf the item is sold for local pickup, it can be paid for at time of pickup. In that case, a code would be given the buyer to give to seller to prove it was picked up.

It sounds like this is the type of item you should try and buy locally. Sounds to me like the "chiller" is a piece of restaurant equipment, and there are many seller's of new and used restaurant equipment here in Michigan, at least in the larger cities. Most of them are offering fairly good prices these days, because of the number of restaurant closures that happened because of the Covid lock downs. Most warranty the items, will deliver within a reasonable radius from their location and some even install some items. Did you look in the upper right of the listing page to see if the sale is covered by the Money Back Guarantee? Some business and Industrial item are not covered by it.
If you do not pay for the item through ebay, the seller's 30 day return policy will not be covered by ebay's money back guarantee, and freight returns are not covered by the Money Back Guarantee since the shipping method/agency is often decided on by the buyer.
I would not use the Report item button, but report the Seller, using the link below. Near as I can tell from what you have written, they are violating a couple of policies.

When you open the page use the blue Report seller button.
Next page select seller has violated an ebay policy > Continue
Next Pg. enter the seller's username, select Other, then in the text box write.
"The seller has a contact phone number on the listing, and when called they want to take the transaction off ebay. They also told me the price will be $20K, when the listing price states $17,444.00".

·3 years agothere is not much you can do about this type of seller beyond reporting them
just cut them out of your loop and dont deal with them
I would move on to a buyer that wants to do what they are supposed to do
at least you know how this sellers operates so you can avoid them

·3 years agoUse the Report This Item link on the listing on the website (to the right of the tabs on the listing's main page) Listing Practices: Offers to buy and sell outside of eBay and then what is closest to the situation on the page/what gets you a text box to explain. Or Listing Practices: Links Logos and Videos. Unfortunately the individual choices in the third menu have gotten hyper-specific and few choices bring up a text box to explain the actual situation (phone number as opposed to link to website or video).
