Shouldn’t Ebay identify which sellers are really in China? How many are there now?

That selection isn't the seller's location, it's the item's location. So it's not going to be useful to weed out Chinese sellers who warehouse their goods in the US.

How is that a problem?
The goods have been imported to the USA and any applicable duty is already paid.
The shipping will be done with a US shipper whether USPS or a courier like FedEx.
The product may be made in China (or Vietnam or Kenya because Chinese labour is becoming more expensive) but that is also true of goods sold by many US-based companies, like Apple, Kate Spade, Dooney &Burke, or most BluRays.
The place of origin is not a measure of quality-- that is more likely to be price (but even there not always).
What many forget is that in addition to a large number of sellers registered in China and shipping from there, a good proportion of Chinese sellers are warehousing in the USA (often California) and shipping from the USA.
In addition, a very large number of new sellers are dropshipping, contracting with Chinese suppliers who ship either from China or from those same warehouses. And while those are US registered sellers, a large proportion of those use their own location as their "shipping from" address rather than the actual address, whether through ignorance or with intent.
And how about US citizens in China, teaching ESL, and making eBay a side gig?
What is the actual problem? Cheap tracked shipping?
Poor description and counterfeit product?
Low factory door prices instead of tariff -added US prices?

Some sellers don't state where they are.
@kathl.palo , click on their feedback.
And then click on See all feedback.
You"ll see what country they're registered in and when they joined.

It just so happens I have a store.
Click on any user's ID and you can see where they're registered, unless they have a store, then you click the about tab.
