CAUTIONARY NOTE TO BUYERS
JUST BE AWARE THAT IF YOU BUY INSURANCE TO PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST THE FAILURE OF A PRODUCT AND THE INSURER DOESN'T REFUND YOU EVEN YOUR PURCHASE PRICE FOR THE INSURANCE , THAT EBAY SAYS THEY ARE IN A CATEGORY THAT WILL NOT BE ADDRESSED BY EBAY IN ANY WAY. THEY DIRECT YOU TO CONTACT THE SELLER WHICH IS LIKE TALKING TO THE WALL IN MY EXPERIENCE. YOU NEVER GET ANY WHERE. SO, INSURING IS SOMETHING YOU REALLY WANT TO LOOK AT... CHECK OUT THE INSURER WHO MAY HAVE AS MANY AS 1 IN 10 SALES END UP AS "NEGATIVE FEEDBACK" . JUST SAYING IT WOULD PAY YOU TO LOOK BEFORE YOU BUY.

Did you read the terms of Allstate's policy, and when they start to take effect, before buying the insurance on the item? If you did not then it's not Allstate that was the problem, it was your failure for not reading the terms of the policy before buying it.
There are not that many categories of products that are not covered by ebay's Money Back Guarantee, so it might be helpful if you posted the ebay item number of the item. Maybe there are still options left to you.
If you’ve purchased insurance like Allstate for an item you’re supposed to contact them, not eBay nor the seller.
