Can't send any message to any seller with any browser running under any OS | Buying

I want to contact a seller to ask a question about an item. I click on "Contact Seller", then I get to a page with a few standard question options and with "contact seller" at the bottom of the page. I click on that and a box comes up with everything greyed out except for "make an offer". If I try to type anything into the message area, a block border appears around everything. There's no way to enter or send a message. This happens using anything from Chrome on Windows 7 to edge on Windows 11, so it's not a system incompatibility issue. I've tried about a dozen different sellers - just to see if any of them would open a message gage in which is was possible to type a question - all with the same result. I assume everyone isn't blocking me since I have a 100% record with 900+ transactions as a buyer. I haven't tried messging a seller in over a year so I'm not blocked due to frequent messages. Are all sellers blocking all messages these days, am I doing something wrong? It looks like the only way I could send a message to a seller is to make an offer and attach a message, but I don't want to make an offer, I want some additional information on an item.
