CANT COMPLETE PURCHASE WITH PAYPAL CREDIT
Hello! Spent all day trying to sort this, hours on hold with PayPal and eBay and I've gotten nowhere. I applied for PayPal credit for an item and received the credit, won the item and PayPal credit is not an option to pay for it. I can click 'pay with paypal' which then gives me 3 options of pay with PayPal balance, pay with debit card or pay in 3 installments. No option to pay with the credit balance I've obtained this for! Quite annoying! PayPal said there's nothing they can do, is there anything I can do? Will I just lose this item and get negative feedback now?

If you are required to put up a payment source in order to bid, or make an offer PayPal Credit will never be an option. Either will PayPal Pay in 4, PayPal balance, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Spendable Funds, Gift Cards, Coupons, etc. etc. eBay wants a payment source they can "hit" for Auto-Pay. For example, you bid on Monday and select PayPal balance. By Friday when the auction ends you could have spent that balance it can't be tagged by eBay for payment. PayPal Credit is still available for other sorts of purchases, but whether it is offered is up to PayPal when you go to check out. Some people have to "apply" for it even though it is advertised on listings to make one think the seller is offering it.

·1 year agoI believe PayPal Credit might not work on auctions that are set up with Automatic Payments enabled.

If PayPal credit doesn’t show on the eBay end at checkout you have to select PayPal credit in PayPal.
When you go to complete purchase click on PAYPAL you will be taken to PAYPAL to select how you want to pay there you can select PayPal credit.

OP1 year agoThanks for that, I think this should work in most cases, but for some reason all other payment options are available in PayPal apart from pay with credit.

·1 year agoIs this an international purchase? PayPal blocks certain international purchases from qualifying for PayPal Credit due to currency conversion issues.

·1 year agoYou will not get negative FB because buyers cannot get negative FB.
You could get blocked by the seller, and Ebay will count your failure to pay and might punish you if it is part of a pattern,
Cannot help you with your payment issue because owing PayPal money is not something I have done or would ever do.

You should be able to select PayPal at checkout.
If you mean that when you check out of eBay and select PayPal, you are not able to choose a specific payment method in your PayPal wallet but one is selected for you, in that case go to your eBay Payments page in your eBay account and delete the entry for PayPal that appears there.
https://ppcapp.ebay.com/myppc/wallet/list
The next time you check out on eBay and choose PayPal, you should be sent to your PayPal wallet page and given a chance to pick a specific payment method, including PayPal Credit if the transaction qualifies.
If the seller requires a payment method in advance to place a bid or make an offer, you may have to provide a credit or debit card that can handle a reversible payment hold. In the case of an auction, eBay may allow some time -- on the order of an hour -- after the auction ends to combine auction wins or to choose a different payment method. If another payment method is not specified, eBay will charge the amount to the payment method specified in advance.

OP1 year agoThanks for the info! I can click through to pay with PayPal and there's only options to pay with balance/debit/installments. No pay with credit for some reason. Possibly the seller doesn't accept PayPal credit. I was under the impression you could just use this as you wanted on eBay. Thanks for the help

·1 year agoI thought paypal did away with 'credit' and issued 'Master Cards' instead, years ago. I had a 'credit line' and then was issued this card, which I then input as my 'go to' when using paypal, so when buying on ebay, I just click 'paypal' and/or that credit card (which it is always already 'pre' checked for me).

·1 year agoPayPal offers both. I paid off my PayPal credit and they keep prompting me to get the Master Card then raised my PayPal Credit limit when I didn't respond after some time.
