Cannot See Seller Feedback, Seller Gone Silent
I purchased a pre-order item from a seller who had 100% positive feedback. However, the date has passed that they said they would have the product and begin shipping. They are now ignoring messages, and when I look at their profile, I can see that they've received 4 negative feedback and 3 neutral in the last month, but eBay is not actually displaying what the feedback comments are.
I need to know if the negative feedback is because they never shipped the pre-orders. The listing said they sold 104 of the item.
This is super frustrating and I don't understand why eBay is not transparent when Sellers are not doing the right thing.
I am afraid I got scammed. They provided me a tracking number as soon as I ordered but then said they would send a new tracking number when the item actually gets shipped. Does eBay allow this?

·1 year agoThe time to file an item not received case is one day after the last estimated delivery date (shown to you in the shipping /delivery tab) passed. You should not let a seller string you along.

Open a chargeback.
Most cards give you more time to dispute than eBay's 30 days.

·1 year agoeBay allows a seller to delete negative feedback, you can’t always trust the feedback you do see. I left negative feedback over somebody that was trying to rob me with a counterfeit and they were able to get it deleted.

It sounds like the feedback you left may have violated ebay's feedback policy and that's why it was removed. It's not easy for sellers to get legitimate feedbacks removed.

·1 year agoYes, anyone can ask eBay to delete a FB. A seller cannot just delete it himself.
It's my understanding that eBay doesn't always abide by the request.
For instance, sometimes a seller believes he has been left negative FB in error.
And sometimes, in that case, eBay will respond that the FB represents the buyer's feeling about the transaction and it won't be removed.

You have done some selling on ebay and should know that ebay will only accept the tracking number posted on a purchase history page as the tracking number they will go by. Any tracking number sent through ebay messages will not be accepted by them and applied to the Money Back Guarantee (MBG) time frame.
Presale listings have different rules than listings for items on hand by a seller. The policy for those listings is in the link below. Those listings often have issues because of Mfrs. of those items have delays in getting the items shipped. Buyers should always check the Brand or Mfr's. site for information regarding the actual release date, before making a presale purchase.

Then replied to some earlier posts writing:
"Purchase was June 22nd and was estimated delivered July 3rd.
Then the seller messaged me and said the product would be in hand on July 20th to ship... ".
If the shipping details for the item your purchased showed a last estimated delivery date of July 3rd, That is when your ebay MBG time frame for filing disputes started. It will end on August 3rd or maybe 4th.
"I reported "item not received" and have to wait 4 more days for eBay to do anything, which is absolutely ludicrous. The seller still has not responded to messages, nor have they shipped anything".
When you file a MBG item not received (INR) dispute, ebay gives a seller 3 days to respond to it by either proving with tracking that the item was delivered, or issuing a refund. If they do not respond to the dispute on day four or whatever date ebay tells you in the dispute, that you can ask them to step in, is when you can open the dispute and click on the Ask ebay to step in button. Unless the original tracking number has a delivered scan, in which case ebay will find in favor of the seller.

"I can see that they've received 4 negative feedback and 3 neutral in the last month, but eBay is not actually displaying what the feedback comments are."
This is concerning because it sounds like the seller made their feedback private, probably after receiving negs claiming that they never shipped and that they're a scammer. (They can't sell with private feedback but you are prevented from seeing the comments they received.)
"They provided me a tracking number as soon as I ordered but then said they would send a new tracking number when the item actually gets shipped. Does eBay allow this?"
This is also worrisome. If the tracking number they provided early on shows delivery, you will lose your INR (item not received) case. What does tracking show?
Ebay does NOT allow what they did. They can't send a tracking number that isn't for the item you bought. However what dishonest sellers often do is send a small widget with a tracking number, then when buyers file for non-receipt, they post the tracking for delivery of the widget and the buyer loses the case.

·1 year agoWhat is ludicrous is assuming you can safely pre-order items on any internet marketplace site.
Internet marketplaces like Ebay are made for order, pay, seller ships in a period of time which is too short for pre-orders.
Many sellers fail to order the goods you are seeking, due to malicious intent or incompetence. The buyers who prepaid are often persuaded to delay long enough for the Ebay MBG to expire.

·1 year agoWhich is exactly the reason that ALL eBay buyers need to read and understand the Money Back Guarantee, preferably BEFORE they start buying here.
And sellers need to read and understand it as well.

When did you place the order?
What was the estimated delivery date?
On a preorder, they can't list the item if they can't have it shipped to the buyer within 40 days.

·1 year agoIf you actually did open an item not received case with eBay, and it's still less than 30 days after the last estimated delivery date, you wait 3 days for a response from the seller.
No response and still no item received? Then on day #4, you return to the case you opened and ask that eBay step in.
If, however, there is tracking showing movement, you may be required to wait a little longer.
In any event, if you handle this correctly within the MBG time line, you will be fine.
PS: You might want to re-acquaint yourself with the Money Back Guarantee. Hopefully, going forward, you won't have any more problems, but if you do, it's good to know the MBG covers you if used correctly.

·1 year ago'pre-order item'....seller gets your money to enjoy while you wait for possibly nothing.
There is no guarantee seller would even get these items that seller is going to sell before he gets them.
You get 30 days to file for an item not received on the date it is to be delivered within the window of delivery.
What was the expected date of delivery?
