Cancel Order form doesn't Submit after selecting reason & texting info. Request made within 5 mins
I selected the wrong item from a seller and made a quick request to cancel, and reorder the correct item, but the form will not submit. No response to clicking SUBMIT button. No response from seller when contacting them. This has happened before with that same Cancel Order form. What's the problem?

OP8 months agoPlease constrain responses to being productive, rather than inflammatory. Netiquette applies here, too.
Consider acknowledging eBay guidelines before an aggressive trollish response.
"If you need to cancel an order, submit the cancellation request as quickly as possible. If the seller has already shipped your order, they won't be able to cancel it."
Re-read the title of my post. The seller is not the primary subject of my query. The Cancellation Request is, and it doesn't respond: Success/Fail/Try Again/etc. It is non-sequitur to leave a user hanging without any response, especially when guided to act "as quickly as possible".
FYI - Contacting a seller in China does not invoke a rapid response, but initializing immediate contact (to aid the seller before he ships) fits the timeline. I received a response 24 hrs later, but, that did not solve eBay's Cancellation Request form problem.
It's a Human Factors issue.
Now, before you feign being an expert in "user friendly" applications, be aware: it's likely you were not born before I designed computerized user interfaces, databases, dozens of websites, and completed various Human Factors studies, including HDTV and Video Conferencing. Follow the rabbit ...

Implementing inline validation to provide immediate feedback as users fill out forms can help users correct errors in real-time, reducing frustration and improving the completion rate.""The mistake stems from an incorrect mental model of the system’s functionality, highlighting how a user’s understanding (or lack thereof) can significantly impact their experience and lead to unintended consequences.
I hope this will aid you in providing considerate assistance, and share in reasonable transaction expectations in the future.
Has anyone actually looked into the core issue? Can you suggest a viable a path to get this issue solved for future buyers? ... for idiots like myself? 😋
Thank you, kindly.

<Happened before? . . . how many times before? Do you make a habit of [posting] something, then trying to [repost] within five minutes? If you would just take that five minutes to double check your post before you commit ... you'd avoid a lot of headaches for both the [readers] and yourself.>
Anyway, thank you for the *snark* and assumption. ... reciprocal. 😘
In a perfect world, less troublesome had we taken more time. I am visually impaired. The seller's listing is nearly identical for 1x and 2x items. I travail over choosing correct items and try to avoid misleading listings.
The function of the form is in question. Let's address that instead of throwing personal shade. BTW, after the form failed to respond, I contacted the seller directly, and they graciously cancelled.
Addressing the form issue: it simply requires an automatic response: Success/Fail with a reason, Fail usually in red.
Good business practice does not leave a buyer in limbo as to whether the button click was accepted, or rejected. The current form functions the same as it had years ago. There is no button response if it fails. There is no warning that cancellation is not an option other than a dysfunctional button. That same response can indicate a disconnect with the eBay server, or a systemic error ... a need to retry. That's why I posted here, in case others had the same problem and had some insight.
eBay Customer Service: We are sent down cyclic paths for remedy, each ending with the same dysfunctional form. That's frustrating.
I addressed this issue several years ago. eBay has not remedied it as yet.
Thank you for replying, gosimus. I'll take more time ... if you will. 🤗

I already do. I have never cancelled an order after it was placed. Let me repeat that word: never. Thanks for the feedback. I'm sympathetic to learn about your visual impairment. I had a visual impairment, so I know. When I was young, in a fight I didn't start, I got kicked in the left eye. Subsequently, that eye never worked as well as it should, but the doctors had no medical treatment possible, so I just learned to live with it.
After I aged, and got cataracts, I had a lens replacement in that eye. I guess my problem had been a damaged lens all along, because after the lens replacement, I was amazed at the improvement. Now I call it my bionic eye. I can read the serial number on a dollar bill from across the street . . . well, that's an exaggeration, I test at about 20/10 in that eye. I wish you similar good luck in your effort for therapeutic solutions.

OP8 months agoThanks for your cordial reply. "Take more time" was not regarding cancellation, but rather me taking more time to select A vs AA, and you taking more time to post in the right thread ... a friendly fist bump, if you will.
The eye thing started similar to your experience, but the results of multiple corrective surgeries were unimaginable. To make it very short: Simple Recognition vs Extreme Clarity. It's a neural adaptive thing that's taking time to amalgamate, perhaps due to the longevity of interim blindness. I'm sincerely glad to hear your success story. Thank you for sharing.

Happened before . . . how many times before? Do you make a habit of buying something, then trying to renege within five minutes? If you would just take that five minutes to double check your purchase before you commit to the purchase, you'd avoid a lot of headaches for both the seller and yourself.

·8 months agoSellers are not required to approve cancellation requests from buyers.
You will need to wait for the item to arrive and then try to file a Return Request if the seller accepts returns.

·8 months agoMaybe leaving long story negative feedbacks...and the seller(s) might have blocked you from future purchase purchases.
Sellers do look at feedbacks a buyer leaves...just a thought.

OP8 months agoThanks.
Reasonable, if it was regarding future purchases. However the seller offered to sell me the correct item after I cancelled by contacting them directly.
It would be helpful if there was some indication why a cancellation form does not accept a button click: "Seller does not accept cancellations", "Buyer is a pest", "Cancellation is not an option", etc.
Also, the problem with a seller blocking a request for cancellation would likely end in bad feedback anyway.
