Can not buy vintage comic books, specifically TMNT, but also Marvel, DC etc
I've been trying to buy vintage TMNT Vol 1 comics and I always get the same message.
"We are sorry, but the item you selected may not be purchased due to seller shipping restrictions or due to country-specific import/export or other relevant restrictions.{e168555-779893x}"
I contacted a consultant at eBay who said it is due to government restrictions and not eBay. So I'm unable to buy comic books from the US (even recent reprints) but I could buy the same book from Ireland (recent reprint). The books are obviously mostly available in the US. I live in South Africa and it's EXTREMELY frustrating to watch the books I want ,AND can afford, just fly through my Watchlist.
Can ANYONE suggest a solution? Thanks in advance

I am just guessing here, but that looks like the seller is enrolled in ebay international shipping, and the message is generated by that choice of carrier, not by restrictions of the country......
contact the seller, see if they are able to offer a different delivery service (bypassing the ebay options)
I have one category that ebay shipping will not accept, yet I can send it UPS or USPS with no issues....
...just thinking out loud.....

·3 years agoIt may have to do with concerns about copyright infringement, especially with comic book reprints. It may have to do with content. It may be because of restrictions on the import of used goods. I don't know, and I'm sure no one else here does. It's up to you to research South African import restrictions.
In the meantime, why not buy comics in South Africa:

·3 years agoIt very well could be copywright issues, I had the same problem when selling on ebay myself. I had to ship them in Priority Mail boxes - and I only sold items in the US - nowhere else.

OP3 years agoHi. Specifically looking for TMNT vintage (Vol 1) which nobody seems to have locally. Will have to approach buyers privately on eBay

·3 years agoI'm assuming you mean "approach sellers" not buyers. Doing that is considered soliciting an off-eBay transaction, which is an express violation of eBay rules and can get your account permanently suspended.

·3 years agoI would suggest your first stop would be to contact whatever government agency in South Africa is responsible for import restrictions. EBay is merely following instructions they've received.
