Can I Trust DHL Tracking Information

I ordered an item from US seller with shipping via DHL. I try not to buy from US sellers but I could not pass up this deal ... $6.50 US to ship with tracking to me in Canada.
The most current update on their tracking is dated July 7th and indicates it iEN ROUTE TO DHL ECOMMERCE OR AWAITING PROCESSING.
If this is correct, the item has not left or even been received from the shipper during the last 5 days. The estimated delivery by eBay states Aug 4, which is Ok.
Can I believe the info given to me by DHL and assume that I may a problem with this transaction?

·3 weeks agoIf the last EDD is August 4th, why worry prematurely? As you know, there is nothing you can do about it until at least August 5th.

OP3 weeks agoUPDATE: Item received and in better condition than described ... starting to restore my confidence in purchasing from US sellers, at least on non-expensive items.
The DHL site never updated. ETA on listing changed a couple of times. All is good.

·1 month agoI have not shipped with them as a seller or privately but I have received a few and I'm sure their tracking is as trustworthy as others comparatively (they're in the top five). Maybe just a hiccup with the scan-in? It happens with my go-to shipper (love them) but in business... stuff happens once in a while.
I could google "is DHS etc"... but I'm sure it's fine.

I trust the DHL tracking info shown on this site. If you go to DHL's site online and enter the tracking number, you will see the same information it does not change when being transmitted to ebay.
What I do not trust is the fact that changing my location from the U.S. to a friend's in Ontario CA. the shipping service shown is Economy shipping, DHL which is not an economy service.
What I do not trust is sellers with that many negative and neutral feedback. Especially, that one whose profile I have posted many times as an example of a seller to avoid despite their 99.6% feedback. You may think there are too many picky book re-sellers buying from that seller, but if you click on the number's of neutrals and negatives and read those comments, there are way too many who received the wrong items or grossly misdescribed items.
There is no legitimate reason why an item coming from the U.S, to Canada should take three weeks to be delivered even by DHL. The seller is supposedly located in Montgomery, Illinois which is in the Chicago metro area. DHL has a hub at the Chicago airport, so by now the item should have been received by DHL if it was shipped within the seller's stated 2 day handling time.

·1 month agoIf the estimated delivery date is August 4th as seen in the listing when you made the purchase, not sure why you're worrying about it so early in the game, especially since there's absolutely nothing you can do about it until August 5th as you know.

OP1 month agoApparently some are having a problem with understanding the simple question I am trying to ask here and turning it into a tutorial on INR stuff and how paranoid I am.
So, maybe I have to rephrase it again when a simple Yes or No answer is all that is needed (no narrative):
Do you trust the tracking information on the DHL site?
If that doesn't work for you, please re-read the title of this thread ...

I'll give that a qualified YES.
Why "qualified"? Because if the last mile delivery is by another carrier, the scans of the last steps may be delayed by several days before they appear on the DHL tracking. But they do appear.

·1 month agoIt seems a stretch to already assume there's a problem. The time to do so is if your item hasn't arrived by August 4, which by my calculations is 23 days from now. August 5 is the first day you could address a problem with eBay, so why waste your time worrying?

Just to be clear, for kathic who never seems to like what I say (!), I am not concerned about the seller nor am I concerned or worried about not receiving my item
I am fully aware of the procedure for filing an INR if it doesn't show up by the Aug 5 ... I am simply asking if the tracking information from DHL is accurate as their last update was on July 7th as copied and pasted to my original post. If it is true, maybe the seller hasn't even delivered my item to the carrier which is a bit worrisome but not enough to lose any sleep over.
So, to reiterate, can I trust the tracking info provided by DHL to be accurate?

OP1 month agoPart of my edit was missing. I purchased the item based on the numbers in the right table. The majority (BIG majority) of negs were made by book buyers who seem to be much more critical when they receive their items.
btw, the seller's handling on the listing (I found it) states they ship within 2 days of receiving payment.

·1 month agoJust to be clear, my response to you was the exact same response I would give to anyone who came to this forum paranoid about tracking, and on a package not scheduled to arrive for 23 days to boot. Tracking is for the benefit of sellers, who need it to prove delivery. All buyers need to pay attention to are estimated delivery dates.

If you mean all of the time, of course not . . . making errors is inherent in the human condition. But, if you mean most of the time, the answer is a definite probably. I understand your wish for reassurance, but I'm not going to go out on a limb for DHC.

I have had zero experience with DHL and I really don't know anything about them. Their website still says the same thing and has not been updated since July 7th, however the eBay site now shows the delivery date as July 14th to July 19th.
So, the DHL site says it may or may not be at their processing location as of today, right now, and,
the eBay site has upgraded the delivery date by 21 days.
Somebody's fibbing and I trust eBay ... that's why I asked the question about DHL.
ETA - the related discussions below suggests my issue with DHL is not a rare one.

·3 weeks agoThe only estimated delivery date that counts is the EDD you saw when you made your purchase, and from your info, that was August 4th, correct?
