Can I still receive my eBay International Shipping order after canceling it?
Summary: bjacau2377 is dealing with a situation where they canceled an eBay order due to confusion over the shipping address, which was actually the correct International Shipping hub. The seller shipped the item to the hub despite the cancellation, and bjacau2377 wants to proceed with the order and not receive a refund. Participants advised waiting to see if the package proceeds correctly, as processes for this scenario are unclear, and discussed options like compensating the seller if the item arrives. Many expressed that both the buyer and seller misunderstood eBay's international shipping process.
I’m in a bit of a complicated situation with an eBay order and would appreciate some advice.
I purchased an item on September 2. The seller saw an Illinois, USA address on their side and initially thought it was the wrong shipping address. The seller asked me to cancel the order because they believed the package was supposed to be shipped directly to South Korea.
Based on the seller’s concern, I requested to cancel the order, and the seller accepted the cancellation. The refund is currently pending and should be processed within 3 days.
However, I later contacted eBay Customer Service and learned that the Illinois address is actually the correct eBay International Shipping (eIS) hub. eBay confirmed that the seller is supposed to ship the package to the Illinois hub, and eBay will then forward it to my actual address in South Korea.
The seller has already shipped the package, and it is currently in transit to the Illinois eIS hub.
Now that I understand how eIS works, I want to withdraw my cancellation request and receive the item as originally intended. I do not want the refund anymore.
I have contacted eBay and asked whether they can cancel the pending refund, keep the original order active, and continue shipping the package from the Illinois eIS hub to South Korea instead of returning it to the seller.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Is there any chance eBay can reverse the cancellation and continue the shipment since the package is already on its way to the correct eIS hub?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

·1 month ago · EditedThis is a situation where both the seller and buyer had no idea how EIS works, from the buyer side, that's understandable, but the seller has no excuse for not knowing.
Plus, if the item was shipped, then you cant even cancel, you can only request a return /refund....so what really happened is unclear. If it did ship, and the transaction was "cancelled" or refunded, then once the item reaches the eIS hub, most likely it will be confiscated by eBay for them to resell, liquidate or destroy.
Who knows for sure as too many unclear facts as to what happened after you requested a cancellation as to what this seller actually did. The best part of this is hopefully both the buyer and seller know now how eIS works on ebay

·1 month ago@bjacau2377 It sounds like everybody in this story is confused, except for one the eBay rep.
I hope you come back to your thread and confirm our understanding. I think we all understand that you are an international buyer and placed an order with a seller who was confused about the Illinois address. They thought something was wrong with the address, so they asked you to cancel the order. You complied, and a refund was issued. Then, you learned after speaking with eBay that the Illinois address is correct (which it is) for orders placed through the eBay International Shipping program.
The next detail you provide is that the seller has shipped your order. This is where we are confused. Did you place the order again using your actual physical address or did you buy again through eBay International shipping? Or, did you not reorder at all but for some reason the seller shipped the order?
I understand why you'd be confused. You are the buyer. But the seller should know what they are doing. Here, it sounds like they haven't got a clue. For starters, if they thought there was an actual issue with the address, they could have cancelled the order themselves without any penalty to their account.
I hope you will clear up the story for us. Either way, once a refund has been issued, nobody can stop it. You will get your refund. If the seller has indeed shipped out the package without having accepted a payment that they did not refund for it, that's on the seller. You are not responsible for paying the seller at this point. I realize you might want to do that anyway. I honestly think trying to force that will cause more confusion, because you'd have to either take the payment off the platform or have the seller create a dummy listing.
Technically the sale that happened on eBay was refunded and eBay lose their commission, so attempting to pay for the item off platform would be a severe violation of eBay policy. Neither you nor the seller should risk their account for this. The alternative is for the seller to list a dummy listing. They could put in the description that it is for payment for the order that was cancelled. eBay is not set up for this type of thing, so they would need to manually mark the new order as shipped even though nothing is being shipped. I'm afraid your seller barely knows what they are doing, and you trying to explain all of this to them will cause more confusion.
The bottom line is the seller needs to eat the loss on the item, you need to sit tight and await your order, and the seller needs to learn how to sell, paying especially close attention to the ins and outs of eBay International shipping.

·1 month agoIf the seller @bjacau2377 honored your request for a Cancellation and the refund has been processed, the seller can NOT reverse it. I don't know why the seller then shipped the item to you since they no longer had payment for the item. Did you purchase it again from them? We seem to be missing part of the story.

·1 month agoI would just hang tight and get the refund. Once you get that you are in the clear. The seller will need to deal with this mess that they created for themselves.

·1 month agoMy experience with package intercepts is they rarely work.
I honesty could not predict what will happen to the package when it reaches EIS, if the order has been cancelled.
The seller might get i back though I suspect that is unlikely.
The order might be forwarded to the shipper, also unlikely.
The order will be turned over to the liquidate who handles EIS returns.
The order will be trashed.
If you get your refund, that is likely to be all you get.
Too bad there are not certification tests for Ebay sellers.

·1 month agoThe seller has already shipped the package, and it is currently in transit to the Illinois eIS hub.
a) The seller can't void the shipping label after it has a scan.
b) The seller can pay a fee to Intercept the package to have it returned to them before it arrives at the eIS Hub. Will they?
c) The Export Declaration should still appear within the computer at the eIS Hub. My guess is the eIS Hub will probably ship the package to Korea.
d) We don't know the level of communication between Managed Payments and the eIS Hub about eBay refunds while packages are in transit.
e) Will the package get sent back to the seller with Return to Sender because the Export Declaration got voided?

·1 month ago · EditedWhat a mess. I've never read a similar situation here in the eBay Community Forums.
It sounds, however, like the purchase is still going forward.
Click on that purchase in your Purchase History. If the transaction is indeed moving forward,
you should be able to see a tracking number from the United States Postal Service (USPS). It's a series of 22 numbers, broken down into sets of four numbers separated by spaces, and ending with only two numbers. Like:
XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX
Clicking on that number in your Purchase History will show the transit from the seller's location to that Illinois address, probably in Glendale Heights, Illinois.
After it arrives in eBay's International Shipping hub in Glendale Heights, it may take a few days before it is shipped to your nation and then on to you. eBay gathers up any other packages going to South Korea, places them all in a bigger container, and then ships it out.
Edited to add:
OP states: "The seller has already shipped the package, and it is currently in transit to the Illinois eIS hub. . . . I do not want the refund anymore."
Check your bank account or credit card online -- whichever funding source you used for buying the item.
IF you do NOT see a refund, then everything is moving forward.
IF you DO see a refund -- this is a really unique situation. I think eBay would make sure you paid for the item and that the seller also gets paid.
I don't work for eBay so I can't really even guess as to how eBay would handle this.
Assuming you paid through eBay, you should not be contacted by the seller directly.
Keep your eyes open for further communication FROM EBAY.

Depending on the OPs payment source, it could be a few weeks to a complete billing cycle for a refund to show up.

·1 month agoHopefully, your seller has filed for a package intercept so that he might get back his package. I really don't know what will happen if a cancelled order shows up at the export hub. I would think that eBay wouldn't want to ship it and take on that expense of logistics and import duties, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have a process in place, as cancelling an order en route to the hub is a rare occurrence.
I don't think that there is anything that you can do - just wait it out and see what happens. You should know in a few days if this package is accepted at the export hub. If it is eventually sent to you, I suppose that you can send a few dollars to your seller via PayPal. Just don't make it what you would have paid through eBay - it should be for what the seller would have cleared after fees.

·1 month agoI doubt the seller will request an Intercept, it's expensive, not guaranteed & most people don't even know the option exists. Considering that they didn't even know how EiS works, I highly doubt they will spend an additional $20 on an intercept.
I do agree though that it's a wait & see situation, as IDK how EiS will handle this. If the OP gets their item & received a refund, I would suggest that they pay the seller via PP or another money app. What a mess!
