Buying count down clock wrong.
Recently was about to place a bid when the count down clock said there was 1 and a half minutes left. Tried to place bid and error message said that the item was already sold. What gives? Been a member since 1998 and never seen anything like that. BTW 100% positive buying and selling.

If you had the auction listing open for a fair amount of time before going to place your bid, that is probably why the countdown clock was so far off. You need to refresh the page every now and then while the listing is open.
When I want to snipe, I refresh the page with one minute left, then place my bid, then I know it will be entered. However, there's always the possibility that an earlier automatic bid might be more than the price I entered. Keep that in mind when sniping, since you only get one chance to bid in the last seconds of an auction.

One thing I do is to have my cell & laptop open to the auction to check the time is the same. You can also use a site to make sure your device time is accurate.

·1 year agoThat clock runs on your computer. It gets re synced every so often from eBay's servers. If your computer is busy, it can run slow and if eBay's computers are busy it does not get updated as often and can be off.
It can't be trusted to snipe with. I suggest you look into using a snipe service to place your bids.
