Buying a trailer on: ebay@online-motors-support.com
I sent $800 to this address to purchase a trailer and after I sent the money they then sent an email stating I needed to send another $1,000 for insurance that was refundable. They also then said the money I sent was not refundable. I now know I was scammed.

Yes, you have been scammed. The seller, the non-existent trailer, and your $800.00 have all vanished in a puff of smoke. NOTHING that is found on another site ends up being paid for and delivered on ebay.
There is no circumstance where this ever happens in a legitimate ebay transaction, none.

I can imagine a group of people sitting around a table, cutting and pasting emails, and sending out thousands of them.

·1 year agoNever mind reporting to websites.
The important report is to law enforcement.
The police where you are, the police where the seller claims to be.
The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) , the central hub for reporting cyber-enabled crime. It is run by the FBI, the lead federal agency for investigating crime.

·1 year agoI'm sure you've realized by now that's not an eBay.com domain.
Any vehicle advertised on another marketplace that says eBay will contact you to handle the sale is a scam; eBay does not warehouse or ship vehicles. eBay transactions take place on eBay, not off site and not through email.
There is no vehicle (just stolen photos) and the scammer is likely overseas. If you send them money or gift card codes there will be no way to retrieve those funds. When the price looks too good to be true, it usually is.
Here's eBay's page about recognizing and avoiding vehicle scams: https://pages.motors.ebay.com/buy/security/
Report the listing to the venue where you found the fraudulent ad using these links: Facebook Marketplace | Craigslist | OfferUp | Nextdoor
If you received any emails that pretend to be from eBay Motors or say eBay will handle the sale, forward them to spoof@ebay.com
You can report the scammer to the email provider they used such as Google (Gmail), Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.

·1 year agoThey are going to keep messaging you to try to get more money out of you, saying if you pay this additional fee you will get your trailer. Don't send them any more money. The money on the previous gift cards you sent is gone and you will not get it back, don't believe the scammers.

You found this trailer on a site other than eBay, and eBay has absolutely nothing to do with listings found anywhere other than on its site. Sadly this is a quite common scam. EBay can't help you. Unfortunately no one can. You can report it to the police and should report it to the site you found it on. But I'm sorry to say that your money is gone.

·1 year agoGift cards are like cash, there is no way to get your money back. The is nothing eBay can do about it and no one is going to call you. This is a public board, not eBay so everyone and their sibling can see your phone number, email and name. It has been reported to the moderator to remove those 3 pieces of information.

·1 year agoSorry that you have been scammed.
The scammer has no affiliation with eBay.
Report on the site where you found the scam.
Use the dropdown arrow there above the date and time in the upper right to "edit" to remove your name phone and email. You are displaying it to all the world, including more scammers.
@thomamcdonoug36
your post here is not "communication" with eBay, just to other buyer/sellers
