Buying
I recently bought an item from an eBay seller which is the listed item I bought, no problem. I have now received a message from the seller saying they have sent me the wrong item by mistake, and offering another item, at a discounted price if I return the original purchase to them. It isn't the wrong item as it is the one I bid for and won. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on, and am I able to keep the item I purchased if I want to.

·2 years agoIf you know what you received is the correct item, you are really under no obligation to contact the seller.
But, if you were that seller, wouldn't you want to know that information?

·2 years agoPrecisely. If people simply took the time to help one another in these transactions, there would be less need for these boards.
Eight- tenths of issues that happen in cases we read here are the result of either unwillingness to take a second to clarify an issue, or outright passive- aggressive bursts of anger that have more to do with the initiator than the actual situation.

·2 years agoFirst let the seller know you received the correct item. They could have mixed up several packages and don't know who got what. You do get to keep the item. While a buyer can file a not as described case and get a refund. There is no I sent the wrong item and want it back case a seller can file. Dang.

·2 years agoI would agree with spark chaser. As a courtesy i would let them know. You have no obligation to contact them if you received the item you purchased.

·2 years agoYou could extend the seller the courtesy to inform them that you did receive the item as listed, and ask them to clarify what they mean, in the event they are confusing you with another buyer as a means to help them set things straight.
however, as has been stated, if you received what you indeed purchased, in the eyes of eBay you have no further obligation to do anything.

·2 years agoIf you received what you purchased in eBay's eyes the transaction is complete. You're free to ignore messages from the seller.
