OP1 year agoDid that mean Exactly? I have kind of problem? Wow! Only 2 people responded with a solution to my dignity and the other to the tech part of backing from an auction! Politely! You have a nice day as well!

OP1 year agoI'm sorry...The topic is buyer beware...
Auctions and people that cheat others? Bad Sellers. But the main topic was the buyer was at the mercy of the seller in an auction. I have been told now by nearly everyone and not so nice either that I had to buy if I won. I get it. However there is a 12 hour back limit and I'm not talking about manipulating any auctions...I know what you are going to say so I am not going to bother repeating what happened. I have a total different opinion because I know people too...All the sellers in here over time have gotten to know each other. I know hackers that is who I have gotten to know over time and good ones! I also have been taken for many different rides in my life...A few very scary... So eBay Needs To Give The Buyer A Back Out Button and if it is within the 12 hours remaining Stop The Bidder From Using that Button...There will be WAR if that button is manipulated before the back out limit. I don't get the tech terms that do allow this so I was just saying know your Seller and Buyer Beware Especially with bidding on an auction...My first 2 and I thought It was my First. So not again. Not Even with a gun to my head. I will say pull that trigger.

·1 year agoSo your topic is "buyer beware". Yet when I read the FB you've left for sellers, none is negative and all of it is effusively positive. If you've had bad experience as a buyer, shouldn't you be leaving FB reflecting that so that other buyers can be aware?

OP1 year agoYou make a valid point! But the very minute I gave a bad report I was being crawled on like I just entered hell...So I compromised and decided to give five star ratings no matter whether the item came out of a trash bin and was cleaned up. Most of the sizes were wrong but the item was new. So a very expensive venture took me to hell and back. Facebook has been out of my life for a few years now...I am in the forum to tell people Please Beware...It's not all great but not all bad either...I don't have a car to just go send something back. So I changed what I would like to have and worry about clothes with other companies... That was the most expensive venture... Kitchen items I know about and games I like and some fun disabled I think are cute...A book for old time comfort with my previous family.

·1 year agoCan you explain how you were "crawled on" for leaving negative FB? And, if you did leave neg, where did it disappear to? Furthermore, since you decided to give this seller a pass and leave glowing FB, were you unaware that you could've just left no FB at all?

OP1 year agoSorry but when I obsess and need an answer but nothing is happening I seem to focus on it way too much...eBay needs to make it easier for a buyer as long as it's eBays 12 or less hour policy to give a buyer a button somewhere to be able to back out of an auction. Basically that was all I was saying. I know I have a real bad habit of circling a subject but mention it every one turn of the sun...Lol

OP1 year agoeBay can hack your life and everyone you personally know to get a very private phone number from these places... I am ashamed of this site. I will be looking to get my items and get off this merry go round of insanity. I have met a lot of nice people through my experience but the whole scene of having my whole life and people I know hacked is an invasion of not only my privacy but theirs as well...This should be taken to the Supreme Court Of The United States Of America.
No one as far as I knew had any right to hack a person's personal life now with all these privacy notices out here. They mean nothing to Billionaires...

Your main complaint was being required to pay when you won an auction.
You did not mention that you had been hacked. Can you give details of that?

OP1 year agoWell the auction and having to pay was my first concern however when I looked back at the item in question it was different. I remember what I first bid on. This was just a little over 12 hours to closing an auction and I was the Only bidder. I knew I was stuck having to pay...I didn't really know for sure but the seller wouldn't contact me which is what eBay told me to do.
Today I had a question on whether or not that seller was still blocked by me I had no way of knowing...Never done it before...eBay wanted my private number and I gave them my landline instead and the guy there on my landline kept saying we cannot move forward until you give me your cell phone number/ my private number because he could see it! 😳So could I and I kept saying no I will not give you my cell phone number it's my private number and I finally blew up at him...It wasn't pleasant but then I got a message in gmail and when I looked there were Bright Yellow Highlights Everywhere on Every One Of MY Emails
Which was with people I get in touch with through my email account! HACKED By eBay! How they were somehow able to get my Private Number! I was Devistated I Felt Naked if that's a proper term and my people were being HACKED at the same time is all I could think! When I posted this and went back into gmail for another message the Bright Yellow Highlights were GONE!

Did you call a number for eBay you found on the internet? If so, you weren't talking to eBay, you were talking to scammers. You haven't been able to directly call eBay customer service since 2020; you have to go online through the Help&Contact link and request a callback. So yes, if you called some number you found online and gave them information you probably were hacked. Not by eBay but by the scammers posing as eBay. It's always a good idea to get CS information directly from a company's website. They have no control over Google.

OP1 year agoThat's what I did and eBay did call back...No scammer here...I was talking to the customer service. You see I have now started looking into the dry techy stuff. I found a place that did what you said. Customer service will call back.

You're upset because you had to pay for an auction you bid on and won.
eBay doesn't hack accounts.
eBay has no way of knowing anyone's phone number but yours. Everyone you know personally is not attached to your eBay account..so again it's not eBay.
You may want to change passwords on your devices. Because it sounds like your device was hacked. If you clicked on a link from someone pretending to be eBay that's not eBays doing but a scammer.
But go ahead and file a lawsuit against eBay...let us know the outcome of that.

If you see an email message supposedly from ebay especially about your account that is not in your ebay messages then as @ebooksdiva wrote, if you opened it or called a number in it, you gave your information to a phisher/scammer, not ebay. If you shared your account login info with anyone else, it could be them who gave the info away.

·1 year agoWow…you want privacy? Don’t use internet, credit cards..don’t travel because hotels, airlines, car rental companies have your info..don’t buy anything with your name attached to it…don’t use phones..I’ve heard that aluminum foil becomes handy at some point…😵â€ðŸ’«ðŸ«£

OP1 year agoWow! If you have proof with pictures then eBay Is Suppose to get these people out. eBay makes money no matter. The seller stays intact. That I don't like! Recently the item for sale I got suckered into had another picture in front of the actual item and when I noticed the item was not what I first saw and bid on, I tried contacting the seller to leave the auction that didn't work and I couldn't prove a Bait & Switch with eBay or give eBay any of the 2 dumb reasons for leaving, I lost it! Ripped my site down, blocked the seller, ripped out my payment and Blocked eBay. I got contacted by eBay!!!! eBay Was BLOCKED and they contacted me!!! I was in the wrong somehow & this person had already got paid when I put everything back together... but it did get resolved... But it left me Very Angry that this came to this! ...It left a bad taste in my mouth to do this! I lived a life of confrontations growing up by institutions and when a Company comes at me with their Policy and not very clear, well all I could see was Wow! I'm in the Principles Office! It's very intimidating. I was resolved I was going to rip this company from ankle to appetite on YouTube. I had enough and spent way too much and had lost my dignity through buying from crooked or shady sellers eBay seems to be protecting. When one seller dies a thousand come to the funeral so truly buyer beware! And if you have proof and pictures and eBay does nothing there is always media like the local paper ,TV, radio, Instagram Facebook pick your poison Or a Real Hungry Lawyer!

You NEVER had ANY proof with a 'Picture' and ANY media you choose to babble to about your 'picture' will just be laughed off as 'fake' irrelevant' etc.
Would you like a picture of Micky Mouse dancing with Beyonce at the Local Bar in my town? I can supply it- no problem.

As a buyer, studying the photos in a listing carefully and checking the description, before placing a bid, is part of a buyer's due diligence. If there was more than a day left in the auction you could have messaged the seller about what you saw or didn't see, and made a decision about whether or not to bid based of their reply or lack of one.
If you were more experienced at using ebay, you would have known that there is an option for a buyer to retract a bid. Read the information in the link below, and click on the Invalid bid retraction button in it.

You can't just close your ebay account, you can request closing your account but ebay will make you wait for 60 days from your last transaction before closing your account. Removing a payment method from ebay can be done, but any transaction you were involved in prior to removal will be honored by your payment service, card provider or even your bank.
You did get resolution so that is a good thing. ebay's Money Back Guarantee is pretty cut and dried about how to go about getting refunds in most situations, but you do have to read its terms and time frames, so you know what to do. Then if you have questions about policies or transaction issues, you can always come to these boards and ask for advice.

OP1 year agoI just wanted to thank you for all the information you provided. You were extremely kind and Not condensending. Yes I have only been buying for a short time. I had no idea about how many eBay policies are out here. It's been a very expensive venture for me but not all bad. This was the last straw to me. People freak because eBay freaks on then. They should not be selling to begin with but I was so hassled I started living in order to keep the peace. Now I know about auctions, don't respond to items...If I see something wrong report it... That really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I hate anything remotely putting someone down even if I am standing up for myself and I have been pleading and chopping eBay to bits over their policy and the problem is the seller manipulating their rights as a seller on eBay with eBays own rules. I felt very stuck...All I could get from eBay on a Saturday was a bot. That wasn't helping & Sellers learn to because of people stepping on them I would suppose. I thank you again and have a great day

·1 year agoyeah sometimes when you want to buy things it makes sense to look at all the pictures. but if they are using a picture and that item doesn't show up the habits of a highly effective individual will be to return the item as " Item not as described" it's nearly impossible for you to lose this scenario and makes ebay very safe and effective but only if you calm down and take a deep breathe and handle the scenario rationally. you may have mislead yourself into feeling like things would work out one way but that wasn't based in the reality of the scenario. believe me my friend your dignity is not tied to purchases. sometimes it's better to remove yourself from the situation before making rash decisions like ripping your site down and ripping your payment and blocking eBay because as you and all of us can see you came back.

My last comment for you is this: eBay bends over backwards to make sure buyers are satisfied with their eBay experience. If you chose to throw away NAD items or not open cases, that's on you, not eBay.
What proof do you have that eBay has "hacked" you in any way?

OP1 year agoThey got a private number I have no name on the account (plus it's not an account) with and when I went into gmail every email I had going to friends and family was highlighted in Bright Yellow and when I posted they had Hacked me and went back into gmail the Bright yellow highlight was gone...

OP1 year agoI am at the mercy of the seller. That's the way it is and I have Had To Eat A lot of Items I either had to throw away or give away Plus Give The Seller A Great And 5 Star review or I get them crawling all over my devices giving me the works because eBay is going to Kick Them Out. Wow! Do you know how many lies I gave out? I was becoming a lier buying from sellers. Yes there were brand new things I bought but the seller truly messed up on the size I specified or didn't fill me in right on measurements or sizes. These are sometimes seconds where there may be the wrong marked item and the seller don't always know this. I am very weary of anything marked new unless it's something to eat from smoke from or drink from...

·1 year agoYou are at the mercy of you. I haven't given ANYONE a 'lie' feedback since buying here in the 90's.
As a buyer you have 30 day protection- learn it and use it. Get a refund. Stop allowing sellers to bully you.....and you do NOT have to leave feedback or can leave negative feedback.
Getting harassed on your phone by sellers?
a.) Stop putting your 'real' number in the system.
b.) Report the seller to ebay for harassment.

OP1 year agoI don't put my number in this system but they do have my site, obviously. So a negative forces me to contact eBay, well you are probably right. Harassment is bad and down right demeanoring. You gave me a great deal of help! Report like big brother if they don't take an item back and harass me. Now my time is at the post office with a cab ride and I get to what get paid back? That don't count the time it took to find what I wanted...But don't give a review and eat the item and report to eBay the harassment that's done with a curtsey would be my cheapest way out. Thank you!
