Buyer own return label
I only see options to buy a return label from eBay. I want to use my own, but how do I do that, and where do I enter my tracking number?
Automatic (AI) assistant says:
"If you want to use your own return shipping label as a buyer, follow these steps:
- Go to the return request in Purchase History.
- Select the shipping carrier from the dropdown list. If your carrier is not listed, select Other and enter the carrier name."
But there is no dropdown list.
I had eBay call me. An overseas agent told me this can only be done manually and I have to call them with the tracking number!
Surely there is a better way.

You can purchase a label directly from a carrier of your choice and upload the tracking to the return request.
If you choose to use your own carrier, Ebay recommends using a tracked service.
Here's how to add the tracking information to your return if you're using your own return shipping label:

·4 months agoThe dropdown carrier list should be found within the Return request details.
If you cannot find it in your return request details, you can contact Ebay Customer Service and provide them with the carrier name & tracking number.
Here's how to contact eBay general customer service.
1. CLICK THIS LINK:

2. Select a category that best matches your problem.
3. Answer the chat bots question by stating what you need help with.
4.Type AGENT ( you may have repeat steps 3 and 4)
5. Request a call back or live chat. (Note that the contact options vary depending on the topic and staffing availability)

Are you asking this as a buyer or seller?
If you are a buyer, Seller's have to send a return shipping label to buyers, or send them the funds to buy one if they are a foreign one. The exception to that is if you are returning an item for a Buyer's remorse reason: I found one for less, It doesn't fit (bu a size was given), I don't like it...
You would buy a label then post the tracking number to your return dispute.
If you are a seller, Go to your Returns Dashboard > click on View Return Details > and from there Upload A Label, then upload the file or image of the label. It is best to scan a label and send it as a document so the bar code is clear.

·4 months agoI'm not sure why you don't want to have the label supplied by the seller in the return request. (For remorse, you'll still pay for it, the price being deducted from the refund.)
There's usually a slightly discounted price if you get it through the return transaction but if you insist on purchasing your own label, you can purchase through USPS website or through Paypal:

Since you are the buyer, there is no reason for you to pay the return cost. The seller has to send You a return label, it's tracking number is recorded with ebay. You have 5 working days, to get the package in the hands of the shipper.
If the seller is a foreign one, you need to go to the shipper's site and use its shipping calculator to get a cost to return the item, then message the seller with the cost, attach a screen shot of the calculated cost from the shipper's site. If they do not send the funds within 3 days. Go back to the Returns dispute and click on the Ask ebay to step in button, they will issue a refund from the seller's account.
If this is a buyer's remorse return Described in my first reply, you have to purchase a label. On your my ebay page there should be a Returns header, you open the return and reply to the message in it with the tracking number for the label you purchased.

·4 months agoThat's the page you would use if you were the seller shipping an order, but you've clarified that's not the case. Do you have a screenshot of the options you do see within the return case currently? Make sure it doesn't show any personal details for you or the seller if you do post one.

·4 months agoGo back to the return case and there should be a spot to enter your tracking number.
It's been years since I done a return, so don't know if it's still the same or not?

·4 months agoRemember, using your own shipping label, if anything happens to the package on the return, it's on you.
If it gets lost or damaged, the seller won't have to refund.
