Buyer has shipped my item to an address in a different state and to a different recipient

Hello Folks,

I recently made a substantial purchase for a computer from a top ebay seller. Upon checking the tracking number I noticed the item is being shipped to an address in Idaho while I reside in Massachusetts.

I have tried contacting the seller multiple times, with multiple messages as I would like him to fix the issue before some random person is delivered the computer I am supposed to receive.

The buyer has gone MIA and doesn't respond to anything - I managed to speak to FedEx and was confirmed that said seller has nothing shipped to me nor to my address yet I paid a good amount of money.

This is really nerve wracking and awfully wrong.

I tried contacting ebay customer service but that appears to be non existing - I spent an afternoon trying to speak to a human but nothing. The robot responder is utterly useless.

I wish I could fix the mistake with fedEx directly from my end but I can't as the name on the package doesn't match mine!!! Arghhhhhh.

After many messages the seller finally clarified that it was an issue on their end. First it seemed that the wrong tracking was uploaded then I received an email with a full refund and an apology. Supposedly it was due to an overload of work and faulty internet connections.

Anyway, at least I got my money back.

Why??? An admitted seller mix up on a tracking number has absolutely no nefarious connotations.

So when I am getting a package from Fed Ex I get daily updates by email on my iPhone. Plus I always get an "out for delivery" email and a "delivered" email. Are you receiving any emails thus far as package on its way? That could be a sign something is not right. Fed Ex usually request for me to sign as well.

Per the OP the tracking number shows the package is going to someone with a completely different name living in a completely different state. So I think it's already been determined that something is not right.

There are a couple things that may have happened. The seller may have made a mistake uploading tracking numbers. Or this could be the fake tracking number scam. What leads me away from the latter is that for it to work the package has to be delivered somewhere in your zip code. Did you get from FedEx the package weight? That could reveal whether the package is actually a computer.

In any event, since you'll have clear proof the package wasn't delivered in your zip, on the day after the last estimated delivery date go to the item in your purchase history and select 'I haven't received it'. That will open a case under eBay's Money Back Guarantee.
