Buy fake item
Hi friends, I bought an item which i found later it is fake. when i trport the case to Ebay thya thankfully refund an amount equal to the item price only. however i already payed import fees and taxes which also a good a mount .Any idea what i can do in this case? is there a way to force teh seller pay me back ? I am not able to contact the seller , seems he closed his account and no longer in Ebay,
Any gudance or help would be appricated.

The seller doesn't receive the import fees or taxes, your country does.
Contact your customs office and see what you need to do.

·8 months agoUnfortunately, import fees and taxes work a little differently from the item price itself. When eBay refunds you for a counterfeit item, they cover the item cost and original shipping, but the import charges are handled by your country’s customs, not by the seller or eBay. That means eBay can’t force the seller to repay those fees, and the seller can’t refund them even if they wanted to — customs doesn’t return those charges once they’ve been collected.
Your best option is to check with your local customs authority to see whether they offer any process for reclaiming import fees on returned or seized counterfeit goods. Some countries do, some don’t, but it’s worth asking.
I know it’s frustrating, especially when the item turns out to be fake, but at least you were fully refunded for the purchase itself. Hopefully customs can give you a clearer answer about the taxes.
