Bought from a 2 1/2 month old account, should I be worried?
I just recently bought an item from a seller who has only been on eBay since January of this year, and has 0 feedback, but sold a total of (3/4) of the exact same item. I was going to bid on the same item in "used" condition, when I saw a sponsored listing for the same item in "new" condition for less $$ than the one in "used" condition. Back-story on the item is that it is discontinued by the manufacturer because of the chip shortage due to covid. This item in new condition is typically sold at nearly $800 but this person listed that they had (4) of this item in total, and were willing to sell it at $300 less than the "new condition" pricing it should generally go for. I saw in the listing that 3 other people bought the item, and that there was only 1 left. Before the opportunity to get the item at $300 less passed me by, I decided to place the order without checking the account history out very much. After a day went by I thought that I should be a little worried, but really want this item at this price. I guess my question is, should I be worried? I'm not so much concerned about getting my money back if I just get a box with nothing in it delivered to me, but I'm worried that I've missed out on actually getting the item in the timeframe I was hoping to. They didn't list an outrageous amount of time for when the item could arrive, at most 2 weeks from time of purchase, but I just get a feeling that this may never happen. What are some things I should also look out for with this?

·3 years agoWas your recent Square Trade Warranty purchased for the camara?
If it was, make sure to get this canceled and get a refund on this also.

Looks like your seller has been removed from the platform by eBay ("No longer a registered user.")
I haven't run into this for awhile, but IIRC, you can contact customer service (either through chat or return phone call or on social media) and tell them you've been in a transaction with a seller who has now been removed from eBay. They can initiate a refund for you.
Another alternative is to wait until the latest estimated delivery date and file for a refund based on "item not received" (INR), but there's really no point in waiting.
Personally, I'd contact customer service on Facebook or Twitter. Send a private or direct message with your eBay user name and brief details. They'll get back to you for more information. There are links to both platforms on virtually every eBay page, or you may use the links below:

·3 years agoYour question: "Should I be worried?"Answer: Not at this juncture. You are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee. Have you read it?
Another question: "What are some things I should also look out for with this?" Now that you have made the purchase, please be assured that you are well protected by the MBG.

·3 years agoMight be me, but the blanket of the MBG does't feel as warm or sound so reassuring as it did earlier this morning..
IMO, the MBG is a last resort! Not a crutch or the first line of defense..
I'm skeptical of the whole affair but certainly lessons were learned for ALL

What exactly are you skeptical of?

Generally, people don't dive into a swimming pool and THEN check to see if there is water in the pool.
I know that sounds like a silly analogy, but once you dove into that pool by purchasing an item, it is too late for second thoughts.
All thought processes and research should have been done by the time you decided to buy. Once you buy and pay, you relax, go about your daily life and wait for the item to arrive. The estimated date of delivery is in your order details. If something goes awry with your transaction, you have the good ol' Ebay 30 day Money Back Guarantee to rely on.
Good luck!

·3 years agoWas this for a camara? How long ago did you purchase it?
I see in the camara listing there is a 10 business day handling time and then it is shipped by economy? Ten business days to ship an item seems excessive almost as if item will be dropped shipped. Depending on when you purchased item is it overdue for delivery yet? Once it is overdue for delivery I would considered making a claim for item not received.

·3 years agoHave you noticed that we are now unable to see when the items have sold. I can no longer click onto the 4 that sold to see what date(s) they have sold.
That being said, the 10 business day handling time is a bit suspicious. I have had a similar situation happen to me and the item never arrived and of course I got my money back.
These newbies don't realize that eBay will not have the funds transferred into their personal account until the item arrives at it's destination AND the buyer is satisfied (no case opened). There is a waiting period for new sellers to get paid.
I won't be surprised if the item doesn't arrive... I hope that it does... it sucks to get disappointed on a deal.

·3 years agoI did noticed that and your correct it would seem that eBay may hold the sellers money until the transaction is complete.

What was the time frame in which the other 3 units were sold? Were they all sold within a few days of each other (and yours)?
aaan-99
OP3 years agoI'm not sure how to see that.

·3 years agoI do believe eBay, in their infinite wisdom, has removed the ability to click on the number sold on the listing page in order to see the sales history for the other transactions. There's been some concern expressed on other recent threads about this extremely helpful feature disappearing. 😕

·3 years agoI'm not sure what you're seeing. It seems like the site is displaying different pages depending on how I try to maneuver to them. If I start from page A, it takes me to view X; if I start from page B, it takes me to view Y, etc. If I start from the Community and click on the (feedback number), it seems to take me to a different view than if I click on the feedback number in a search results page.
Then throw in the difference between the mobile app and the desktop platform . . . and do you think you see anything differently on ebay.com because you're in Oz? (I doubt it, but you never know.)
It really seems like a hot mess to me, and it's discouraging me from even shopping on eBay anymore.
