Beware of providing ebay with payment information
Updated my credit card information with Ebay. Somehow someone got it and made a $240.33 purcahase that showed up on my credit card as a O*xx-xxxxx-xxxxx number and a fake telephone number to San Jose.
Will never use Ebay.

·2 years agoI just received an email last week, allegedly from "the Ranch," claiming that I needed to update my account information.
So I sent an email to "the Ranch" (NOT the email address provided on the "account update" email, by the way) to question the status of my account.
Big surprise -- the email which I had received to "update my account information" was spurious -- nothing wrong with my "Ranch" account.

·2 years agoThat.
Or.
You got hit with a fake update your payment information e-mail and actually gave your info to a scammer. Which has nothing to do with eBay at all.
I see e-mail scams all the time wanting me to verify my payment information from Amazon, eBay, Chase, etc. They are all scams.
The only time eBay would ask you to update your info is when you go to actually buy something.
And the scam pages can look very real, but they aren't. Did you get an e-mail asking you to update your payment info? eBay will not send e-mails like that.

·2 years agoIf you did an offer for an item or won an auction eBay will step in and charge your card. I seriously doubt anyone got your credit card information.
