BEWARE ALIPAY24 eBay SCAM!
The ALIPAY24 is an eBay scam! When you want to purchase an item a coupon for $40-50 pops up with the code ALIPAY24. It applies the amount saved and then when you go to check out the coupon cannot be applied, leaving the buyer with a purchased product that has NO discount at all. eBay stated that this is a coupon that ONLY applies to China. So I asked why is the coupon being applied to my purchases here in the US. They stated that it was my fault for not reading the small print (Terms and Conditions). All while offering a separate $18 discount that did NOT require any Terms and Conditions. Misleading? False Advertising? If this coupon only applies to China then only run the promo code in China right? The eBay response was “people in China also use the USA websiteâ€. This is misleading, fake and false in all capacities. Sloppy work on the eBay side and False Advertising for sure. Beware of this SCAM.

·1 year agoWhat I want to know is why do the Chinese get discounts and Americans who spend more do not get a discount? I answered my own question. They take advantage of Americans every chance they get. EBay giving discounts to the Chinese but not us.

·1 year agoThe terms seem pretty obvious to me. Sure it's annoying but not everything is a scam. If you fall for something, you've been scammed. Luckily , you're just annoyed.

·1 year ago'ALIPAY24' to me means a form of payment from people who live in China(locals) and such.
It's an APP one needs to download for foreigners(USA and such) to use it.
Alipay is an account.
Jack Ma as one of the richest people in China..."Alibaba" Founder.
The discount applies to those using Alipay24.
I notice it on my items listed as selling in China with this discount...accidentally saw it I guess from a third party.

·1 year agoThis isn't considered a scam. This is considered a misunderstanding on your part for not reading the coupon details before using it. Whenever you receive a coupon through pop up or message always read the fine print.

·1 year agoWhat a stupid, condescending response. I ALSO received an email containing this **bleep** "coupon code" to be used with a $900+ item I had recently viewed. The email shows a photo of the item and says:
Use your coupon to get 20% off! *
​ Code: ALIPAY24. Ends Dec 03, 2024

The emails says NOTHING about China. The terms say NOTHING about China, although when clicking the link to the "terms", right away it looks like a strange page. Even if you search the entire terms page for "China" not ONE mention of it is on the page.
In fact, the terms specifically state: The Terms and Conditions of this promotion is subject to the laws of the State of California, United States of America.
The OP is 100% CORRECT, this is a massive, confusing fail for eBay. That **bleep** email should never have been sent.

·1 year agoYour first clue should have been that the terms are in Chinese, followed by an English translation. Your second clue should have been that the start and stop times are specified in Beijing time. The third clue should have been the requirement that you pay with Alipay, which is a payment option used in China. So yeah, if you actually took the time to look at the Terms it seems clear this was aimed at the Chinese market. And even if that wasn't glaringly obvious, the fact that you can't pay with Alipay should have let you know you couldn't use the coupon.
I do agree, however, that US-based users shouldn't be getting the popup.

·1 year agoNo dumb dumb, I shouldn't have had to even LOOK at the terms because, as you said after wasting your time typing all of that nonsense, this "coupon" should've never even been OFFERED to US-based users. It's a stupid move on eBay's part and that's why there are hundreds if not THOUSANDS of posts by people wondering why they were sent a coupon code that doesn't work when entered.

Exactly, Just like the people that post all these questions that are clearly stated in Ebay policies and get mad because they didn't bother to find out what they are getting into. It never ceases to amaze me how they blame others for their lack of research before they leap into something.
