Been on eBay since the beginning and now I’m switching to Amazon….
In this last year nearly half of what I buy must be returned or refunded due to incompetent seller packaging or descriptions that do not match the item… typically, an item is listed as new in box, when it fact it isn’t and is missing pieces or the seller didn’t use any bubble and it arrives broken…
The sellers have gotten terrible and eBay refuses to do anything about it… therefore after over 30 years on eBay I will be taking my business elsewhere… I simply do not have the time or patience to deal will all the problems related to eBay transactions…

·1 year agoLooked at the sellers you had negative experiences with, most already had atrocious feedback before you purchased from them.
As a 30 year eBay user, I would expect you to know how to pick your sellers better.

·1 year agoAmazon is 80% garbage so not much better.
Even the NFL shop direct where you pay big bucks for 'licensed' real things, but apparently they also allow 'out of the country made' garbage.
I bought 2 Shirts- got one from them direct and one from a 'Trusted Partner' that was shipped separate, made horribly (crooked, one arm bigger) and when deciding to return both (even the one from them directly was made WAY smaller than a typical 'large') with all types of differences..... from the SAME place?
One (from them) ships USPS with Free Shipping
The 'other one' that was made horribly, charged me $10 to 'return it' and ships UPS (different).
So, just like Amazon- never again- always buy from 'direct' and WATCH it when they say it is coming from someone else.

·1 year agoSounds like neither of your purchases were fulfilled by Amazon and were therefore similar risk to Ebay.
Just as many of us point out to both buyers and sellers, how they have not used the Ebay procedures to their best advantage, you have not used Amazon in the best way.
One of the downsides of internet shopping is the failure of internet sites to understand how to do retail business as a retailer does. The people on the returns line at a Walmart store are less PO'd than many internet shoppers.
P.S. Buying direct and buying from trusted partners are not terms in Amazoneze. I do not know whether you are applying your vocabulary or the sellers you found were not fluent in Amazoneze.

·1 year agoBecause you said you are having so much trouble with buying on eBay, I looked at the first five or six pages of your feedback left for others and on just the few pages I looked at, I see you have left about 30 negatives and 9 or 10 neutrals for the sellers.
If you are having that much bad luck with buying on eBay, it's probably just as well that you are leaving. A lot of sellers wouldn't want to sell to you because of those feedback you have left. Perhaps you will have better luck buying on some of the other online venues but don't be surprised if it is more of the same. Whatever you do decide, the best of luck to you.

That's simply ridiculous.
But thanks for posting.

·1 year ago@scouts63,
Seller's who do not describe items properly, or do not pack them well, usually have negative feedback to that affect, so it is incumbent on you as a buyer to check each seller's feedback profile, before buying from one.
If you have been on ebay as long as you claim, by now you should know how the Money Back Guarantee (MBG) works especially since you sell on ebay. If you follow its terms and time frames you will at least get a refund for damaged or badly described items, and the refunds do not take long to be processed if you file the correct type of dispute, and follow up on them.
I have to ask how you have been a member for over 30 years when ebay is currently only 29 years old?

OP1 year agoyes, i get my money back... with long delays while ebay give them additional days to respond... many of these sellers are giving themselves interest free loans with the buyers money by taking payment and then never shipping the item. When the due date arrives and there is no tracking the refund should be automatic, but no, you have to open a case and ebay gives them time to respond thus tying up your money even longer, 2-3 weeks can go by before you finally get your money back...
29 years... 30 years... close enough... my first ebay transactions were with a 56k baud modem and usps money orders in the 1990s... sorry i'm not accurate enough for you...
bottom line is ebay in its current state protects bad sellers... so go shill for someone else...

See we don't have any idea how long you've been around as the ID you're posting with has only been registered since 2021. But you've made the mistake of thinking anyone with a different viewpoint is an "eBay shill". You've also apparently made the mistake of thinking you're required to let the Community know you're leaving. If you have any questions this page should give you all the information you need:

Happy buying at Amazon!

·1 year agoThere are many Ebay sellers who are also Amazon sellers.
There are more choices on Amazon for many items.
The closet choices to Ebay sellers are listings which are fulfilled by the merchant. You may see a lot of similarity to Ebay packaging.
There are Sold by Merchant and Fulfilled by Amazon listings, and Sold and Shipped by Amazon Listings.
Do not think you will get superior packaging if Amazon is shipping.
Recent orders have been coming in thick paper mailing bags. Not the shredded paper filled bags but in the alternative to vinyl or tyvek mailing bags. Effectively no padding.
Amazon is notorious for boxed product with little packaging material in an oversized box. One mailing pillow when a dozen would be required.
You can count on no recycled packing material, unless you consider a manufacturer's carton which has been shipped before.
The cost of shipping and packaging materials is high enough that corners are being cut, everywhere.

@ed8108,
Or why some sellers have gone back to "dumpster diving" for good quality boxes. My F.D. would have a fit if they saw the broken down boxes in one corner of my garage.
