Automatic checkout
Can someone tell me why, when I bid on or win an auction, I get a message saying that my payment will be processed in an hour or I can checkout early. That’s no good when I want to bid on another item (or multiple items) from that seller, that end in a day or two. Other times, (like has always been the case previously) I bid and win and message the seller to say I’ll hold off paying until I see if I can add to my winnings. Who decides about this automatic checkout thing?……any help would be appreciated - thanks in advance.

Any time you are required to provide a payment source BEFORE you can bid or buy, this is going to happen to you. Sellers can turn off the requirement, providing they know they have them as eBay intended in default to yes or on. eBay certainly doesn't tell you since they make more money with this process, and they don't tell the buyer that they will be billed separately for each listing at full cost. They will tell you turning them off may result in non-paying buyers, but they certainly don't tell you turning them off will likely increase your sales because you can combine shipping again for your customers who do pay.
This limits the payment sources you can use, AND as you find out, removes the option of combining items for one shipping price. Guess what...YOU REQUIRE THE SAME THING FROM YOUR BUYERS as well (I just checked). So if I won ten of your auctions for a card at $5.50 shipping each, I will be paying $55.50 for the ten cards. I am not stupid, and I will go shop with another seller or someplace else.

OP1 year agoThanks a heap - I figured there was somewhere that that could be changed. Really appreciate you taking the time. Take good care - it's a mess out there (the world, I mean)(at least we have our eBay world(!)), although eBay's numerous (not-better) changes over the years, often has me thinking, "who is running this outfit, anyways"(!)

·1 year agoThe seller has their setting set to auto pay. They may or may not know it as it is the default setting now
