Auto Pay/ Auction/ Combined Shipping
I think I was forced into Auto Pay last night when bidding on trading cards. I typically buy multiple cards at a time from the same seller when they have posted cards up for auction, and before Auto Pay it was easy to await an invoice and address the combined shipping topic and get on the same page with the seller before payment was made. If I buy ten cards in the same auction, I am now on the hook for ten separate shipping charges. This is the first time I've ever been on the Community forum, but I don't know why I was forced into Auto Pay (I have 100% positive feedback, and I am a buyer only). I'm guessing I'm not the only one. As an aside, how does one get in touch with a non-robot at Ebay to complain about this? If I can't overturn AutoPay the entire Ebay experience is ruined. Thanks for any feedback/guidance/commentary.

·2 years agoBe aware @christophemcgowa0 that if you ask and the seller refunds from one or more of the 10 purchases for a combined shipping discount, those one or more purchases cannot be returned for their refunds.
For example, if you bought 10 cards for $10 each, each with $2 shipping (total $20 shipping)
-- then the seller refunded the $12 on one of the cards ($10 plus $2 shipping)
-- you cannot return that card later, at all, to get its refund.

·2 years agoWhat you need to do is to contact your seller before you enter auction bids & inquire if the seller offers a combined shipping discount on multiple wins.
You also should inquire as to the estimated combined shipping cost.
Example 1 - 8x10 photo $ 5.00 shipping chg
5- 8x10 photos won, a $7.50 combined shipping chg
This way you may perhaps avoid disappointment in the above example of being provided only a very small refund by the seller.

The seller may "offer it", but it will not happen so long as the default preferences SET to yes remain in place in advance of bidding. The buyer will be charged and pay in full as each auction ends. Some sellers may just keep the extra shipping and send in one box anyway. Some sellers will have to go through each listing and refund the extra shipping. There is no requirement that a seller do either of these things. These are all separate listings that in essence require a unique tracking number for each.

We have seen quite a few buyers complain about this. They also sell, and did not realize they were requiring he same of their customers as well.

You are not the only one to complain about the autopay system, It is hurting both buyers and sellers. Everyone was opted into the Auto pay system. Sellers can opt out so they can send a combined shipping invoice, but because ebay opted them into requiring auto pay without their knowledge or an announcement until after it was done, many still do not know that that has happened and don't know where to go to opt out. All you can do is message the seller and ask for a refund of the difference in actual v. charged shipping cost on the cards.

·2 years agoYou can get refunded for shipping by seller...by a polite email...if you got auto-paid. I have to refund buyers all the time for International payments.
But this hurts the "seller" because he is charged .30 for each item paid and seller doesn't get that back from eBay. One would think this can be fixed. Seems like a way of making more money...
