Authenticity guarantee sends me a fake.
I bought 3 pairs of sneakers from the same seller, only in different sizes. I found it strange that the price was so low, but I trusted the authenticity guarantee. Out of the 3 pairs, 2 failed and 1 passed, and I received the product. However, since they were the same model, I thought that the 1 pair that passed might also be fake, so I asked for a return and refund, which was ignored. I detailed my suspicions of fakes on eBay, which was also ignored.
I tried to sell the product on another sneaker resale platform, but it was judged fake and I had to pay a certain amount of money as a penalty.
Don't trust eBay's authenticity guarantee. It's never accurate and even if you raise a reasonable objection, they will ignore it because it went through the authenticity guarantee.

·2 years agoThat whole program is a can of worms. There often is no way to tell as those shoes are made in many different factories with different tooling. They won't all be the same. That also applies to ones made off the book with the exact same tooling. It comes down to did the brand name holder get a cut of the profit or not.
It will always be a ball or strike call and will never be 100% correct.

·3 years agoYour story sounds a bit Sus. Especially trying to resell when you knew they might be fake. But open a return not as described. The seller has no choice but to accept the return. They will even have to provide a shipping label. Plenty of videos on youtube that will walk you through it.

·3 years agoNot the case with the authenticity program. Buyer can’t file an INAD case. That’s the whole point of the program.

·3 years agoHis explanation was a bit confusing. "Out of the 3 pairs, 2 failed and 1 passed." Who failed them? Or is the OP judging by his knowledge? If Ebay failed them why would the seller disclose that? Are those 2 able to be returned? I don't know. Maybe the OP can clarify.

·3 years agoI do know. I mainly sell Vans which I have been wearing since the late 70's. I would be able to spot a fake so I have never had a need to authenticate service. Strange I have heard alot of good things about how good they are.

·3 years agoYou really need to read up on eBay's Authentication service. It's not something the buyer can choose whether to use. It's selected by the seller when they list. And if you purchase shoes that have gone through authentication you're limited by the seller's return policy. If the seller doesn't accept returns it's considered an 'as is' sale. The MBG doesn't apply.

·2 years agoI am a seller and just sold a gold chain for $800. It is going to the authenticator but I did not select for it to go there. It just automatically came up when the sale was finalized. I do not thinkbit is a choice that the seller or buyer makes. I think it might be done after a certain $ amount. Just a thought.

·2 years agoActually,the seller doesn't get to choose. If you sell a pair of sneakers for over $150 and a handbag over $350 they automatically send anything with particular name brand claims for authentication.

when a pair of shoes does not pass the test they are not shipped to the buyer so there is nothing to return
maybe the OP did not find out the 3rd pair was fake until after they were listed on another site

·3 years agoNot surprising, but horrible Ebay doesn't take any responsibility for shoes they authenticated as good.

·2 years agothe issue is that they could not guarantee it is the same item that was shipped out to the buyer, i have myself had a different item than was shipped out if it hadnt been that i video the packing then i would have been stung myself, however i can understand when you say they should have some accountability if it can be proven they sent out something duff

·2 years agoThe issue with this situation is the item has been authenticated by a top 10 authentication company . Plus it’s considered complete for the seller, as they consider it to be a final sale. All monies have been paid to all parties.
To try and retain the payment after being distributed, especially for a high value item would be not possible as majority of sellers are doing this for extra cash and once available they cash out. I have sold many items requiring authentication and I have had only one pair of sneakers fail as they were not described properly in said condition. All other were cards, including a $1500 PMG 1997 Precious Metals Gem very recent. I would honestly get a third opinion. As well as show the platform your documentation of authentication to try to get your penalty money back. As this platform is very thorough. I wish you the best of luck!
