In all seriousness, at 82 I have neither the time, desire or eye site to read throught all this B/S; anyone have opinions if it is safe to continue to deal with E-Bay sellers? Do they still guarantee purchases. BE CAREFUL on AMAZON. Jeff Bezos new crap with "secondary" merchants has led to many who are scammers, bought a $36.00 item, didn't work went to return it. Received sellers approval and return address to return, and information that BUYER must pay return postage. Well, the return address was written in script chinese, cannot tell you what dialect, but USPO refused it, and UPS advised would cost $100+ to send it back. Dealing with another fraudster now. BE CERTAIN anything you purchase from Amazon, is returnable to Amazon.

·4 months agoThe OP is quite wise. They gave us a hook in the title to get eyes on their post. Bravo. 👏

·4 months agoI’m pretty sure OP was being facetious regarding the length of the new user agreement and joking that by agreeing, one may be agreeing to giving up their house to eBay.
Which is NOT that crazy considering Disney once put in their TOS that by using Disney+, you gave up your right to sue Disney for any damages which they tried to argue extended to incidents happening in their parks when a widow sued them when her husband died in one of their parks.

·4 months agoSo a mysterious warning about Amazon on an eBay site?
soh.maryl
·4 months agoStill would like to know where the idea of "assigning our homes to them" comes from, and, in this case, would also like to know who the mysterious "them" would be.
Out of the loop, as usual.

·4 months agoIf I have to be in the loop to understand what they’re saying, I think I’d rather stay out of that loop.
soh.maryl
·4 months agoBasically trying to remain out of the loop because, when I'm actually in the loop, it appears I know less than I thought I did which is a real blow to the fragile ego, right?

·4 months agoI can understand what you mean. Some companies terms and conditions often appear to be the size of War & Peace, and not in any logical order.
The clause where they grab your house doesn't bother me. It's the one where they demand you hand over your firstborn child that's the worry.
msha3839
·4 months agoSadly there is no clause to hand over wife and mother in law…😢

·4 months agoThe 3rd party sellers is nothing new. I was one for 10 years. it was great if you did your job. The problem is anywhere there are people who are lazy and could care less. it is nothing new. It started in November 2006.
msha3839
·4 months agoWe have TDS and now BDS…enough..don’t buy on Amazon if it bothers you, stick to B&M stores..I spend on Amazon over $1K per month and never had an issue with returns..sometimes large items picked up free of charge and sometimes simply dropping at UPS Store…p.s.Amazon always had third party sellers, but dealing with them if problem arises is way easier than on eBay..
soh.maryl
·4 months agoCan you please return here and explain where you got the idea that anyone is going to take our homes?
Am afraid you are mightily confused. You may want to give further details about your eBay problem so that we might help you.

·4 months agoOP is 82 years old and said himself that he doesn't want to read.
End thread.

·4 months agoAnd there is no chance to get smarter with age..🤷🥃🧐

I am 81 and still run a full time business here on eBay. I don’t think the age comment was at all necessary.
It is probably a lack of experience on the part of the OP with Amazon. They have a good return policy, but many are not that familiar with it.
msha3839
·4 months agoDon’t take it personally, I’m not far behind age wise 🥃…my point is that with age people should be wiser but unfortunately many fail to progress…🤷🥂
soh.maryl
·4 months agoMaybe people should be wiser with age, but, sadly, the reality is sometimes the opposite. Ask me how I know.

I think people are just they way they always were…some were clueless and still are. Some bright and continue.

·4 months agoPerhaps you've missed all the information about Alzheimer's or age-related dementia?
The point I'm trying to make here (and failing) is that mental acuity or lack thereof is not limited to a particular age group and isn't something we can control unfortunately.
And, yes, now I've said my last piece on this subject (for now anyway).
soh.maryl
·4 months ago"I don't think the age comment was at all necessary".
Of course it wasn't.

·4 months agoYou don't know that exactly, do you?

·4 months agoJeff Bezos has more problems right now than people mistaking eBay for Amazon. Last night one of his larger rockets exploded on the pad. Scared my cat, lol; it sounded somewhere between thunder and a sonic boom. My sil saw the mushroom cloud and thought we were all going to die!
But, to directly address the OP, you’re confusing things a bit here. It sounds like you’re in Target but mistakenly thinking they’re owned by Walmart.
msha3839
·4 months agoBezos rocket most likely insured and damages are tax deductible…🥃

·4 months agoEbay might as well be better than Spacex at launching rockets, isn't that the third or fourth early-launch kaboom in the last couple of years? I saw the one on the news yesterday and thought... "Again?"
glorybells
·4 months agoYou may be right about that, but don’t put any ideas in eBay’s head! 😜
Actually, SpaceX is doing well, it’s Bezo’s Blue Origin that can’t seem to get it right.

·4 months agoAt least you don't have to fund NASA for these costly errors. Glad no human was on board.

·4 months agoThis isn't amazon. Ebay is a completely different site. You deal with individual sellers and must file a case against the seller within 30 days under the moneyback guarantee. Contacting the seller directly through message for approval by the seller isn't part of the moneyback guarantee and yes by going directly you will have to pay return shipping. Under the moneyback guarantee you don't if the item isn't as described. I would also suggest whenever making a purchase click on the sellers profile first to make sure that the seller isn't from China.

·4 months ago@steselen-6
I'm not sure how issues with Amazon pertain to eBay (and honestly those issues with Chinese sellers on Amazon started years ago). But on eBay your purchases are protected by their Money Back Guarantee. Yes, there are rules and deadlines in it, so I advise everyone to read it before you need it.

·4 months agoThis isn't Amazon and does not take that long to read the Money Back which hasn't change in quite a while. Not sure where you got the idea about them taking your home!
soh.maryl
·4 months agoBut it has to be pretty scary for the OP if he/she really believes that's a real possibility.
msha3839
·4 months agoNot scary..everything is possible under the sun…in today’s electronic age, fraud against elderly is skyrocketing..especially when elderly have no one to advise and protect them…some people still read the small print but don’t understand what they read…
soh.maryl
·4 months agoYou may not know this, but internet fraud isn't restricted to the elderly and not all elderly are entirely clueless.
