Another tracking scam
Recently purchased an item from an eBay seller that has been selling for years. Around 18,000 sales, 97 % feedback. Item was sent, but went to a different address, it was intentional. Looked at sellers feedback and they have done this before.
Seller apparently picks some sales out to cheat the buyer, increasing their profit level.
Most all the shipping services invite this scam, since they do not want too disclose the actual delivery address, and offer no help.
eBay also turns there back on this scam. eBay advertises, if you do not get your package we can help, but in reality they do nothing.
I know my credit card company is the best solution.
Thought it was different, that a seller maybe sells 20-40 items just fine, then commits tracking fraud on an order. eBay says they are one of their best sellers.

The time to look at a seller's feedback profile is Before you buy from one. Especially, if their percentage is below 98.6% or they are shipping from China. If their profile shows they are registered in China but they give a U.S. item location do not buy from them. If you see any comments left by buyers who did not file and lose an Item Not Received (INR) dispute. Hit the back button and find the item from a different seller.

The shipping services are bound by Federal postal privacy regulations. The scammers know this and that's why it has become a common scam. They cannot disclose the actual delivery address of a package to anyone whose name is not on the shipping label. They certainly will not give the info to eBay who was not a part of the shipping contract (Sender, Recipient). You sometimes can get signed a letter on USPS stationary, That states in General that a label's tracking number you were given, was not addressed to you. You may be able to get a note from UPS or Fedex, if you first call them and they are willing to send you an email saying the item's tracking # was not shipped to your name or address.
Then take a copy of the Order details the company's email or your device with that info, to one of their stores and get a hand written note from a clerk. saying the same thing. If you paid using PayPal they do have an option for package delivered to a different address. Credit card providers would also need the same info, in order to issue a charge back.
There was a way to contact ebay through their 3 Social Media platforms and get resolution by attaching scans/photos of the above info, but they closed two of them, and I'm not sure if the last one still offers help for this issue.
"Seller apparently picks some sales out to cheat the buyer, increasing their profit level".
This scam is mostly performed by seller's who are drop shippers. All China based sellers are drop shippers. Their items are sourced from Govt. provided catalogs, which is why they sell items in many unrelated categories. The items are shipped from Govt. owned warehouses and that is where the address switch takes place. The Chicom Govt. takes a cut of everything and getting Yankee dollars is something they love. There are some sellers based in Europe and the Middle East who use Drop Shipping services or Amazon and their orders are sent to addresses somewhere in your zip code.
FYI, Top rated seller status is awarded based on sales volume and also defect rates. If a buyer loses an INR dispute, the seller does not get a defect, so it does not count against them.

·5 months agoAn actual delivery has occurred someplace. So you can't treat it as non-delivery.
Go to the shipper, get documentation that item was not delivered to your address & open an item not as described case with ebay within the 30 day window of delivery. Ship a copy of the paperwork back. Get your refund.
If you are beyond the 30 day window, only solution is through your payment source & their policies.
